Let’s say an agreement with a player leaked today saying that Player X is getting $2M. That $2M refers to a piece of the limited revenue sharing right? I believe all schools are limited in their offers due to the cap on the revenue sharing.

Is this right?

There is cap on revenue sharing since it is the cut from the school.

The NIL addon is where the wild west is happening. There is supposed to be oversight with NILGo and deals are supposed to be "market value" but that hasn't been tested yet. And remember the Supreme Court ruled you can't limit the players from earning NIL so any true enforcement will result in a court challenge.

Thank you.

So the numbers being leaked are rev share numbers?

For example, say the cap on revenue sharing is at $20M for LSU and Leavitt gets $5M (is that normally a rev share number or a combo of both) That leaves LSU $15M to legitimately offer these other 35 players? So they do have to offer judiciously to get the players in.

Portal spending? Ridiculous nonsense that is killing “college” football.

We don't really get the details to know the breakdown. I'm sure the percentages of each deal are different to work under the rev share cap. I'm sure the players don't care if it from rev share or NIL as long as the deposit hits their account.

The numbers we frequently hear are probably total so that it sounds better. Like when they were touting the 4 year total of Underwoods deal.
