I remember going to Miles first game in Baton Rouge and me and a friend agreed that Miles wins on talent alone and how he does just enough and then relies on his defense to hopefully salvage the W.
He did a great job with the program Saban built from Dinardos days.

Kiffin dont have to check his plays through Saban first to get the ok . We take 35 sec getting a play in while miles decides yes or no.

+1 on the JL pick 6 year 2008. Miles has only allowed one QB since then to regularly throw between the hashes. It puts way too much pressure on the passing game to not utilize the middle third of the field.

Miles has gotten to where Cholly Mack was in many ways. Nice guy Good winning % BUT could not win the BIG ONES.
Mack was 2-14 vs the Gumps. He lost his last 9 games vs Bama. Miles is 5-7 vs Bama & lost his last 5. Looks like history is repeating itself.

This is likely it more than anything. Hell, just look at all the play links that were up earlier. The called plays weren't so bad in and of themselves, but if you intend to physically beat someone rather than trick them ( a legit way to look at football) then you absolutely must be the more fundamentally sound team every week.
We basically never are.

I'm pretty certain this was it. That 2008 season set the offense back 70 years, and since then, the more the pressure turns up, the more he resorts to risk-averse, mostly boring offensive strategy. Under ideal conditions it can still win, but those conditions are difficult to replicate.
Even in the most "prolific" offensive years of 2012 and 2013 with Mett and crew, we threw the ball 40% and 38% of the time, respectively.
I believe that this is absolutely true. the pick - sixes ruined him

McDonalds fired Miles for burning the Fries. Canes got rid of him after he ran the dog over with the lawn mower.

He should have hired a Lane Kiffin and just let the OC call all the plays. Saban did it, Saban smart!

Miles used to have a multiple offense that was a joy to behold. What happened?
The best proposed answer I have heard was from Hannagrif a year or so ago. He was saying that in Miles early years he was able to overpower most of his opponents and he got away with it. In the latter half of his tenure at LSU he stayed with his same plan and everyone else adjusted to it because they had to tune up to play the Bamas, LSUs, and Fla's. So essentially, he failed to modernize for his opponents and the game has passed him by.
I have described Miles of late as the Don Quioxte of CFB. All his morals and virtues are there but he is coaching in the past...

Saban stole Miles's soul on that day.

Exactly - there's a reason no one else runs that pitch play

Several things kept Les alive, game after game:
-Les survived on the pure talent of his players, not coaching.
-Les was extremely lucky, alway squeaking out wins with trick plays, multiple 4th down attempts, luckily escaping defeat, even with clock and coaching mismanagement issues.
I equate Les with the golfer that is playing poorly, but scrambles on every hole to make par. Eventually your luck runs out and the Golf Gods even things out. Les has run out luck and the Football Gods are at the gate.

When RP was booted. This team didn't have an answer or replacement. The offense scheme changed and the team is still struggling to find it despite Mett's decent years. This caused LSU to fail signing QBs like Flynn or RP besides Harris. Also at that time RP would come in a couple of times to just run a belly or option/pass play to keep the opponent wondering. This hasn't been the case since then. Harris is like those guys. Cam just needs to promote that type of offense...if he knows how to run it.
This team is too talented for what we saw last week. Also, the left side of O line needs to be looked at and replaced...
Sorry for the short rant. Don't post much.

won't really get into this much other than to say that I know this to be false on the offensive side of the ball, specifically because of this...
Do tell. Nothing has ever came out. I remember crowton saying some shite about LSUs offense, not his offense. But then the frosh all acc qb he inherited gets benched, Maryland sucked and crowton ended up getting canned.
And no way anyone would convince me Wilson didn't love working with Miles.

11 years of Luck rt?
Just forget that he did dismantle several top ranked teams over that time, won the sec west three times, sec twice, bcs title once.
Beat Saban, Tressel, Meyer, Fulmer, Spurier.
Two of the toughest strength if schedules LSU has ever had were 11 and 07. 11 was the toughest schedule in the history of the program.
That is not luck.
