I'm now beginning to see why fans of other schools say that LSU has some of the worst fans in the world.

What I saw last night was an LSU coaching staff that was very deliberate in working on the passing game, putting the QBs in situations that required them to make certain passes. Last night was not about maximizing the score or calling the best plays for LSU vs UNT - it was a scrimmage where LSU got some work in on things they wanted to improve.

Think again if you're expecting similar playcalling against Auburn. If CS runs wild, you'll see him get the ball 20+ times not 7. You'll see the parts of the playbook Hatch/Lee handle well, not the parts they struggle with that LSU emphasized last night.

Last night didn't change my opinion about LSU's QBs - they are ok. Not great, maybe not all that good, but not bad either.

I did come away from last night with a great deal of respect for Les Miles in how he works on improving the team against a clearly overmatched foe, rather than trying to just run up the score. Same thing he did in the second half against Appy State.
about damn time someone says it...unfortunately this post will get lost in the shuffle...this is exactly what happened and it came straight from the Horses' mouth (Les Miles)

LSU with hatch looks like a team that can beat auburn and georgia, and be in a dog fight with florida.

Auburn will put 7-8 into the box against the LSU offensive line until Hatch/Lee can complete some 10-15 yard passes, and do it in spite of a strong rush. Our running game will not be there against that kind of defense. Our QBs will have to play better than they have so far if we're to win at Auburn. But on the bright side, we may only need one score.

from my POV on the 50 yard line last night. We looked terrific. Hatch is smart and great on his feet when it comes to running the ball, Lee has a great arm just needs to have patience and awareness. Lee is the son of a football so he knows what to do, he just has to practice at it. Jordan Jefferson has great potential. Like others said, he just needs more game exp. and reps. He's gonna be a superstar in the coming years. Just wait......oh and Charlie Scott is a superstar....

Define fine.
He will throw for less than 100 yards per game. He will only throw 1 INT. He will manage the game. Unfortunately, none of this will win the SEC for us.

Correct, and the passing game pretty much looked terrible when you consider who they were playing against. Seriously, our scout team is much more talented than the North Texas defense.

So what exactly is the silver lining here?

I'm telling y'all...we're in HUGE trouble this wknd. This has little to do with hurricanes taking needed "practice" games away from us. It has everything to do with having a subpar qb. Hatch might be "smart", but he's lacking some major tools. We have all-world talent around him. Unfortunately, he has to touch the ball on every play, pretty much.

That said, can we beat Auburn? Sure we can. It's just going to take a step-up game from someone not named Charles Scott.

There's a difference between being "smart" and being able to make good decisions when you are rushed and under pressure. He looked pretty dumb when he had to make quick decisions yesterday.

I agree. I'll watch at 7 tonight to see more. Jury is far from coming back into the courtroom on this one.

Agreed. You can only judge the qbs on what we have seen on the field. What we have seen is Hatch has sub SEC talent. Poor arm, not very accurate, despite his Harvard background that many will cite, he does not seem to have a handle on reading defenses or looking off dbs or going through a route progression. Lee seems to be physically talented, but he is extremely green. Lee needs as many reps as they could possibly get him, but due to the circumstances, its trial by fire. That being said, Lee could develop enough as the season wears on, but its not a rosy picture like many want to believe.

No I didn't, but I feel safe in assuming you didn't either, so either earn the right to be so critical of them, or shut the hell up.
