re: Where are all the Washington fans?

I submitted 5 RFP's last week. A couple were basic, but a couple of them were real ball busters.One of them was for the opportunity to interview and if you ace that you get the opportunity to get on a bidders list. I swear the people that write these must hate me.

The nice thing about being a fan is that I don't have to be realistic. The worst kind of fans are those that concede victory a month before the game is played.

You didn't have to move all the way to Kelso because of this problem. There is a tiny (excuse the pun) percentage of women that say size doesn't matter.

I'll stop picking on you since it is such a touchy problem you have, I feel guilty.

PS - Before you claim a team like Oregon maybe you should pick one that has some history behind it like Rose Bowl victories or national titles, none of which Oregon has. And yes you don't have to remind me Oregon has beat UW the last four or five years, I know this but we have tradition unlike them and will be back shortly.

I'll bite. This game reminds me a lot of our game against Ohio State 2 years ago. Ohio State came in favored about the same as you guys are and were ranked very similar. You ended up beating them in the national championship game that year as I'm sure you remember (thanks captain obvious). We were up on them at half time, 7-3 and at the start of the 2nd half we had a string of plays that gave them 14 points almost right away. They had a 68 yard TD pass, followed by a fumble on the kickoff by us, which resulted in a long TD run two plays later which pretty much took the wind out of our sails. Locker also threw an interception on the 5 yard line which killed us. We ended up losing 33-14, although it was much closer than the score indicated because they scored on a long TD run to end the game. Anyways, Locker was a freshman and that was only his third start in his career. Ohio State had a good defense that year, but Locker was able to run at will against them (14 carries for 102 yards). If we don't make some huge mistakes in that game, we may have been able to pull it off. We should be equal or better to our 2007 team this year.

Locker will play a huge part in this game and it would not surprise me to see us put up 28-35 points on you guys next saturday. If our defense is improved at all, we may be able to hold you to around the same amount of points as Ohio State scored on us. They had a great running game against us with Beanie Wells, but had a so-so passing game, although they had one big play. I see their offense being similar to what you guys have in the sense of a strong running game and a good, but not great passing game. Bottom line is I think this game might be closer than a lot of people think. I don't know if we can pull it off, but I could see it stay tight well into the 4th quarter.

With you guys starting a young QB, i think that there is a chance he could get rattled and make some mistakes with how loud it will be. Ohio State brought around 15K fans, but since they sat in the horseshoe, you couldn't really hear them. I expect there to be around 12K LSU fans and 60K UW fans, although the UW fans will sit on the sidelines and under the overhangs which will make them much, much louder. You probably know this already, but due to the reflection of the sound off of the metal overhangs, Husky Stadium has the record for the loudest stadium in college football at 135 db.

It should be a great game. I, like many Husky fans, am just hoping to stay competitive with a shot to pull it off in the 4th quarter. I think staying competitive is very doable for us.

No kidding. I said you remind me of them. Coming in early in the season ranked #11 (OSU was #10), favored by a little over two TD's if I remember right, strong running game, good passing game, and great defense.
