So does every player on the team who is a backup and a junior get a standing ovation when they run onto the field?
you cant be that stupid...

Does every junior backup on the team get an ovation when they run onto the field? Seriously. The guy chose not to quit. I'm glad he didn't quit or transfer, but that is all he did. He hasn't done anything that any other member of the team hasn't done.
your shitting me right...?
Explain it to me. What has Lee done to get a standing ovation that the other players on the team have not done?

He didn't quit? He didn't transfer?

Seriously, is being one injury away from being the starting QB for a major football power so difficult of a task that he gets a standing ovation just for running onto the field?

I'm glad he stayed. LSU needs him.

However, there are a bunch of other players that didn't quit or transfer. Do they get a standing ovation for running onto the field?

Does JJ get a standing ovation?

Is Lee more deserving of a standing ovation than Kelvin Sheppard?

WTF did Rudy do to deserve one?

If you are the 2nd string deep snapper, sure it is easy to hang around for 5 years and enjoy the perks.

However, when you are in your second year on campus and you walk to class with people who think you're one of the biggest frick-ups at QB LSU has ever had, then that is a different story. That is how Lee's life was in 2008. Everyone calling for your head in public. Getting booed at the stadium.

He didn't waiver. He continued to practice hard and perform to his abilities. He may get another chance this weekend and he should be commended for even being here. If he gets a standing O, that is fine. I will be clapping.

He deserves it. Murphy deserves it with what he has gone through. Hell, I have bitched multiple times that TC should be allowed to go in and take a knee. To my knowledge, he has never taken a snap in a game, and he has a great back story.

Face it dumbass, some players had to overcome alot more than others, and those players deserve to be commended by fans.

Although I understand your argument justme, you are missing some points that need to be considered.

1) The kid has faced more public adversity than most other players on the team, if not all.

2) The kid handled that adversity with class. After his games he owned up to his mistakes, and didn't "ask" the fans to be patient with him because he's learning...despite being a frosh.

3) He is the QB, like it or not he is the most visible player on the field at any time. The offense goes through him EVERY PLAY.

4) We are having issues at the QB situation at LSU currently, hence the added attention.

5) Tiger fans are pretty liquored up when they enter the stadium.

And the center. Both literally and conceptually, the ball goes "through" the center every play as well.

Agreed, but the center is far less visible to the unwashed masses than the quarterback....just the way it is.

Yeah I was just being a smartass. However, last year with T-Bob, the center was one of the most highly criticized positions on the team ironically

So why didn't Richard Murphy get a standing ovation? He has gone through way more than Lee.

I do not think many people know his story. Obviously, Lee has the most publicized story of any player on the team, and he is still the back up.

I think Murph is still every bit as deserving, along with TC, of an ovation. I think senior day will be evident of the respect that Murph has from the fans. TC is my favorite 4th string player on the team though .

maybe you have issue with the term "Public" in "Public Criticism/Adversity".

Do we need to get a definition for you?

I hope he does too.... because that same crowd will turn on him in a second and proceed to boo him off the field.

Maybe you need reading comprehension help. Where did the original post ever state it was because of "Public" criticism/adversity.

People get booed. People get praised. It's part of the game. It's part of being a QB.

I'm glad he stayed. I'm glad he worked hard. I'm glad he behaved like a grown up. He is a grown up. He has nothing to be ashamed of in his behavior.

That is what you are supposed to do. That is the expected behavior.

All of the players have worked hard. All of the players deserve to be commended.

**sigh**

You brought up another player...whose name and story are not well known to the unwashed masses. JL's adversity is....

Hence the "public" aspect. It was pretty much implied by your post about another player whose story is NOT as widely known by the unwashed masses.

good try though.

Here's what Lee went through in 2008

LINK

That's gotta be tough on a 19 year-old. If that was online about me, my mom would cry

Wow. I don't think this response is even worth wasting my time on. If I did try to explain something to you, you would have a very difficult time understanding. Keep on believing the words that come out of your mouth, because sooner or later there will be someone dumber than you to believe it (be patient though).

Ah yes personal attacks.

Obviously you have no more valid arguments or any rational discourse left. So you call me names and run away....

Sure got me there, guess you win (BTW, I'm not laughing with you)

Are you really that dumb that you can't believe Murphy had a tougher road than Lee. Just because you might not be aware of his parents dying and all his injuries doesn't mean that most LSU fans don't know about it. And please enlighten me where the original topic had to have "Public" adversity.
