Is there anyone else besides Boutte, Stingley, Ricks, and York that are better than average SEC players?

I’m not talking about recruiting ratings. I’m talking about performance.

A few more guys have potential but most of the 24 starters are just average SEC players or even below average.

That’s the way I see it. For whatever reason, the best players on this team are mostly just not good enough for LSU to compete with the top SEC and national teams. The last 11 games are proof. 5 wins 6 losses

I was wondering about the “Our d is stacked, dline is stacked, D is going to be elite, Oline all returning”.

The stacked D and the oline have the same dudes from last year. Why would they be good?

Daronte Jones is shitty.

It’s a fair question. But to be fair to the players, there may be several very good SEC level layers on the team, but we don’t know because the coaching is so bad.

An example is Damone Clark.
In a backup role under Dave Aranda in 2019, he looked like he was poised to be the next great LSU linebacker.

Then Aranda leaves and we hire bad coaches to replace him and now Clark looks like every game is the first time he’s ever played football.

I think this roster is loaded with raw talent (except on the O line). But it doesn’t matter when the staff can’t coach them up or causes them to actually regress.

I don’t think so. Most of the blame has deservedly been placed on the inadequacies of the coaching staff. But honestly, if you did not know the recruiting ranking histories, would you think that LSU was the more talented team last night? I just didn’t see it, unfortunately. Lake outshined both Sting and Ricks in the secondaries and both UCLA running backs appeared as if they would start for us. That’s not even considering the disparity in line play.

Not really average

Just low on talented draft-eligible players

It’s not a great mix
