literally never heard of it until this thread.
Well, the original poster is exaggerating this a little bit. Try Googling pics of other schools' players and you'll see plenty of them making the same L-shaped #1-sign. Some people just don't feel like tucking in their thumb when they make the #1-sign. Heck, one of the guys in the photos above has his thumb wrapped in tape, so he can't make a #1-sign without his thumb sticking out in an L-shape...

Lavalais did this nearly all season in 2003...though this is Pittman. It was never the whole team, but a bunch did. It wasn't an accident.

I must be out of the loop, but the first time I noticed it was on Gameday when Lolo did it. I mistakenly thought she was calling Bama losers.

This could catch on with the right song with the LSU band.....or maybe not. But if it does, I started it....

I'm almost positive these are all examples of an untucked thumb #1

Not exaggerating... And not even talking about the players. I'm talking about FANS doing it in recent years. I see it on pregaming all the time. Y'all will notice it if y'all haven't by now.

I first noticed Bowe and Buster Davis doing it back in 04 after the Az St game - I know there's a photo of it somewhere - I'll see if I can find/
They played AZ State in 04?

Lavalias was not exactly a brain surgeon, but I'm almost certain the guy could figure out how to make a #1 sign with his hand. Guy did it all season long...and others clearly followed his lead.

I never noticed either, but since you brought this up, when will someone hold up the "L" with their right hand, a "U" with the left and then shake your head side to side as to suggest "NO" for the "S"?
Aggie board.
