In 2005 when the masses wanted M. flynn to start because the perception was that he was a smarter, more accurate and heady qb than J.R.

Ranking be damned, its the poor showing of our teams by the coaching staff.
C'mon!! Be reasonable!!! The fanbase love LSU, we hate bad coaching, no matter the coach.

Did you HATE 8-5 Saban in 2002?

Yes but I expected very little because that team no way stacked up against the last couple years. Do you understand what I mean?

all fanbases are negative

The bar has been raised higher than it's ever been and with that comes higher expectations and with that comes more vociferous dissapointment when those expectations are not met.
Passion is the true enemy of reason, and it can be a bit irresponsible at times. But without it comes apathy then Tulane.
That passion fuels our baseball program. Few other schools in the country even notice college baseball but it is very important here and don't think that doesn't have alot to do with us getting back to the top...but conversely it led to the running of Smoke pretty darn fast, whereas at most schools he might still be around.

remember it like yesterday. that was a HORRIBLE night... BUT it wasn't as bad when Tommy Hodson threw that int on the 7 against tOSU and we didn't even get a sniff at the national title. Of course that beat down by Bama that year didn't help either...We had a tought arse schedule then..

it's not just lsu fans, whether you would like to believe that or not.

I would disagree with this. I don't remember hearing the same reaction when Saban was here after we nearly lost to a Vandy team who lost Cutler in the 3rd quarter; our D getting crushed by Texas in the Cotton Bowl; the Georgia game where our blitzing, bump and run man to man D got destroyed; the Auburn game where our O was non-existent and our D gave up a crucial 4th and long; UAB; Our juggernaut of an offense scoring seven against Florida while Saban's D gave up two TDs on the same play call, with Zook coaching, no less? This is not meant to demean Saban's accomplishments here, it's just that people seem to have preordained Miles to failure and are more inclined to be more pissed when that which they felt to be true leans in that direction, such as our team's performance the past year and a half.

National championships= unrealistic expectations for years to come

I think that most schools' fans are more negative than you think. However, I don't think LSU's fans were all that bad until the early 1990s. People really appreciated the winning LSU teams of the mid-80s, because they made us feel a little better while our state was suffering through the oil bust--I think that this actually made our fans too reliant on LSU football's success to make their own lives happier during the lean times. The losing in the early 90s made people really desperate for victories and by the late 90s, a lot of folks seemed downright pessimistic going into most games.

Who gives a flying frick about the teams issues? It's not your damn job to analyse and prepare this team, so you cry babies quit acting like it. Everything was so much better when people just routed for LSU rather than having 8 million Head Coaches and Athletic Directors.
I'm so f-in glad internet wasn't around in the 90's, I didn't know we had so many idiotic fans.

Open any door you wish, but it will still be 47-12, 4 of 4 in bowl games, and a national title. All of which equates to the best performance in LSU history!!!
