What’s your tailgate TV setup?

Is a portable dish and a monthly subscription to Dish/DirecTV the way y’all go?
I feel a digital antenna would get the locals, but what about ESPN and SECN?
What’s the easiest/cheapest method to get all LSU games outside the stadium?

I assume you need a WiFi or unlimited data plan for this to work.
WiFi is completely unreliable on game days around campus and I’m limited on data.

Used to bring old direct tv non HD receiver from my daughters room and hook up to a dish on a tripod. Something happened with transponders and or coaxial connections. I said screw it and am getting a dish tailgater setup where little dish will set automatically instead of me always setting dish manually.

I miss tailgating in Br :(
We used to use a dish. We tried everything else and it was just too frustrating and unreliable.

Tailgater Dish from Dish Network. Only pay for the four months of the season.
An antenna is great And free if you’re content with just the local games, ABC, CBS, etc.
Anything else is unreliable. Some people will say WiFi, but I guess that depends on where you tailgate on campus, but where I’m at in the Old Front 9 lot, there isn’t any WiFi. I’ve also heard of people using their phone as a hotspot, but that can’t be that reliable neither. When campus starts getting full, cell phone service is sketchy.

This seems like what I’m looking for. Do they lock you down with the two-year contract? Has the price remained the same for the package from season to season?

You just have to pay for the months that you use, just call at the beginning of the season to turn on your subscription and at the end of the season to turn it off. I think it is $80 a month during the season.

How much does the Dish Tailgator unit cost?

Digital antenna for CBS and Direct TV thru satellite for everything else. To be honest, it's a pain in the arse. Under live oaks, antenna signal freezes. Satellite subscriber lives in CA so our local channels (CBS) can't be picked up. He just pays for an extra box that we keep in tailgate trailer

Use my directv box, an old satellite from my house and a tripod. Works like a charm.

We use an antenna for local and stream from phone with espn plus with a lightning cable to hdmi adapter.

They have different dishes, but the basic one with a receiver is $350, for a dish that has dual outputs I think is $400 with one receiver.

Get unlimited data plan then?

Nice. Thanks
you do realize you could get unlimited data plans for cheaper then $80 a month for this subscription you have said is nice....an unlimited plan that you could use all month and not just on ~7 Saturdays of the year to watch one network....who may have a shite game and would be watching one of the cable networks games anyways?
I don't understand the sense in that, but do as you wish...but if you dont have unlimited data (i assume you either a. cant afford or b. dont want to pay)...why would you pay more for a different service that limits you.
You can change data rate plans or just buy more data if it will be exceeded that particular week and still come out cheaper and not have to worry about setting up additional equipment for a tailgate.
Good luck regardless

Surprised nobody mentioned the Dish Playmaker with Wally receiver. Pay as you go packages and don’t have to be an existing Dish customer.

this what i will use this year. i prefer the small auto setup tailgater dish with this plan instead of bringing old regular size dish which crapped out on me.
and i am not a dish customer at home.

I think that’s what Fight4LSU was talking about. Just didn’t use the actual name. At least, that’s what I’m looking at

There’s no way the reliability would be worth it with 200,000+ people on campus. That many people using the big wireless networks will really slow shite down.
Am I wrong?
