No one will ever produce at LSU. Every LSU QB gets shite on until he leaves and immediately is better than the next QB, with the exception of Lee/Jefferson.
The issue is people on this board lack self awareness and wont acknowledge the things they have said in the past, ever.

He's the starting quarterback, we hate the starting quarterback, head coach, and strength and conditioning coach.

So what people are saying is that even though BH and others nose dived in a crappy offense while DE did solid under the same conditions, that the other guys will somehow come on top? That doesn't make sense. Brandon Harris could not complete the simplest short pass and his pocket presence was terrible. He would take 7 step drops when all he needed to do was take 5-3 to make the short throws. Either race or ignorance is the motivation behind a want for Harris.

Etling is just not good and hasn't been even dating back to high school. His numbers are very similar throughout his career but we keep hearing he's going to light it up next year. We heard that 2 years ago. Yet the excuses keep pouring in.
He produced a grand total of 23 points against UF, Auburn, and Bama. 23! We lost each game. He folds too easily in big games and lacks "it". Time to upgrade at QB if we are serious about winning a championship.

I have no problem with him but I think it's very fair to say he had limitations and you have to wonder if a different OC can squeeze more out of another QB.
But, it's not like I'm rooting against him. If he turns out to be the guy, I think competent OC with an entire offseason can make it work. It's not like Etling is useless

DE has been the same QB with the same stats and shortcomings in every place he's been since high school. People assume that's all going to go away and he can improve but nobody else can in the same time frame. He performed as bad and even worse than BH in some games last year and there were more bad defenses last year than the year before.
It's just funny seeing a handful of people calling for DE to start next year outright. Just comical.People act like he's gotten a year of experience in an offense that "should" give him a leg up when in fact every QB here and coming in are all learning a new system. There should be a full competition.
I will accept what our OC sees and decides with an open competition and root for the winner unless he sucks a$$ and costs us games.
