2007 - LSU - FLA - when they announced that USC lost. The stadium went crazy, cause that meant that if LSU won then we would be the sole #1.
This is the loudest of any game that I have been in attendance. It was unreal.

don't understand how people can say the earthquake game. Tiger Stadium holds tens of thousands more people now than it did then. You can not convince me that some of these moments in the 2000's, like Georgia 03, Auburn 05/07, and Bama 08 were not "louder moments". Everyone in the stadium was on their feet yelling at the top of their lungs. Are you saying that the type of fan in the old days was just louder when they screamed? Makes no sense.
You would have had to been there...yes, it was louder. FYI...the crowd is different today compared to back then...still many rabbid fans there today, but due to commercialization, there are a lot of "spectator" type fans as well. Back then it was all hard-core lsu. Unless you were there, you wouldn't understand...no offense.
Exactly. While the ticket prices have gone up, the crowd noise has gone down in my opinion. People don't cheer like they used to. The Earthquake play was just an unbelievable play. There were probably 80 to 82k in the stadium for that game which is only 10k less than now and probably the upper decks don't contribute as much noise as the lower decks do. We did have one upper deck back then just not quite as big and no one was behind glass either.
Here's the best video I've seen of the last minutes of the Earthquake game - 8 minutes long - Earthquake play starts at about 3:20 but it's good to watch the plays leading up to that play as well. Earthquake TD

LSU/FLA 2007 - announcement that USC had lost. Gives me chills thinking about it. Was my wife's 1st time sitting in the student section and she's been a huge tiger fan since.

Auburn game! Not even close. I was in the student section and it was surreal and very, loud.

Two moments stand out:
(1) Donaldson INT return against the Gators in 1997;
(2) Mauck to Skyler against UGA in 2003.
Those two instants were exponentially louder than any other candidates.

For me , and these were games when I was on the field so I have a little diff perspective
Ga 03 definitely up there
Au 87 also
Uf 07 loud
One moment that was loud for me was Eddie kennison's 99 yd punt return against MSU in '92 I believe . When he took that ball and cleared bout the 35 yd line I thought the place was gonna come apart

I think the QUIETEST single moment was back in '07 when we were ranked #1 and lost in triple overtime to the Hogs. It was as if we had all witnessed a killing and didn't know what to say.
I was gonna go with the 2005 Auburn game when the Auburn Kicker missed the FG.
It was so quiet that the sound of the ball hitting the upright echoed in the stadium. Then it followed with a roar that, in the games i've attended, was only surpassed by the Florida game in 07 with the USC announcement and probably the 08 Alabama blocked FG.

2007-LSU vs Florida. That game alone was simply amazing. The loudest I have ever heard any stadium in my life. With the over the top moment of the announcement of the USC loss.
After that I would say the Byrd catch against Auburn later that season.

Not louder than 2003 UGA game. Was at both of them, also have to throw in UF game in '07. Was outside the stadium watching the game at a tailgate and the crowd noise from the stadium was crazy loud!
I sat in the exact same spot for both, I promise TN 2000 was def louder

Also, I'm sure some of you were students in 2001 ? That had to be one of the best student section experiences of all time ? THAT game was a close 2nd to TN 2000...then comes UGA 03, then comes FL 07

LSU -Georgia 2003 No doubt
This was a close second but the last game we tore down the goal posts when we beat Tennessee was the loudest. Not sure on the year.
ETA: Prob this one

Florida vs. LSU '07 when we scored the go ahead touchdown.
Others not as loud but really fricking loud would be in order as follows:
DByrd catch in '07
Blocked Field Goal vs Bama in '08

Loudest would have either been the Auburn "Earthquake" game, or when I was marching pre-game in 1986 before the Notre Dame game. The Tiger Stadium crowd was so loud during the pre-game of that Notre Dame game that I couldn't hear Jeff Sprkmn's trumpet even when it was damn near playing in my ear. There were fireworks going off for that pre-game as well, but the only way I could tell it was by seeing the flashes and feeling the concussion, because the crowd was waaaaaay too loud to hear them going off!

The Skyler Green catch against Georgia in 2003. I think when that happened, everyone knew LSU was finally a big time program
