Exactly. Following the last two years of Orgeron it seems the pendulum has swung so far to the “well behaved student athlete” that we don’t seem to have that chippy, Alpha dog players holding the other players accountable. Think about the story of Burrow fighting Queen. I almost think it’s been part of an overall approach with the program in general. Basketball too. Even Jay is a West Coast guy, but baseball is different. Mulky is the exception.
I get the need to graduate and develop players beyond football, but it just seems like the pendulum has swung too far in a sport that is violent in its nature. I keep thinking we’re under some kind of double secret probation to get LSU out of some NCAA dog house. Even JD5 was mild mannered and didn’t seem to command the team. Those ND teams under Kelly were chippy and dirty at times. Those linemen and tight ends he sent to the NFL were noted for their nastiness. That’s not here yet. Whit Weeks is the only guy I see with that edge.

What’s missing on this team.
SEC level strength and conditioning. There's a reason why UGA stole Cochran from Bama several years back and then won titles. There's a reason that Texas a&m is where they are after picking up Moffit 3.5 years ago.
There is a level of mental and physical toughness that the S&C coaches in the SEC have to teach to get through the grind and win consistently. It doesn't happen with 1-hour outdoor practices in the fall to ease the players into normal practice times. Our team is soft compared to the rest of the SEC and it's glaringly evident on our OL.

Very much like our state, rich in resources, poor in leadership.
