Thing I'm noticing and it's happened alot in other games, bad on ball defense with a lack of stopping dribble penetration which leads to help defense which leads to someone needing to rotate (and are usually late) which leads to open looks at 3's. I'll say it again , they have poor communication on screens and switching.

The problem is our inability to guard the ball. We get beat one on one, help side slides down leaving people open.

Exactly- and it happens over and over
3 open shots from the same damn corner...I call it a scavenger def everyone chasing the ball until an open shot

Smart plays some of the worst defense at times, especially in transition, he never cuts the guy off and gets him away from getting into the lane and once he gets there he's getting either a bucket or a foul you cannot let them penetrate that deep into the lane. This is elementary, defend them away from the middle of the court and keep them out of the lane, especially in transition.
