My expectations have obviously dropped but what would you consider a successful 2017 Football campaign?

SEC championship and playoff contender.

That's what LSU fired Miles to be able to achieve.

ETA "the hire" was sold in part on continuity, so there's no excuse for any drop off.

This is 100% true, this should be everyone's expectation, from coaches, player, administration. Realistically I think 10-2 with win at Alabama can achieve that. Anything less should be a let-down.

11-1. No excuses because they made bad hires. LSU either contends for championships or they should have just kept Miles and saved the money.

At this rate signing one QB of marginal physical abilities and a LB that runs a sub 5.4 40. 6 wins at a minimum.

Expectations shouldn't change just because they made a shitty hire. Win or go away

Minimize the dumpster fire. The whole department is dysfunctional. But in typical Louisiana fashion, give the losers raises and blame the democrat governor.
