The offense was way different with Crowton.

Yep. The first two years of Miles' tenure were with Jimbo Fisher, and Crowton's first year (2007) was a mostly Jimbo offense with a few additions like the pistol formation due to a fifth year senior quarterback in Flynn.

The offense was still rolling pretty well until 2008 happened (pick sixes), which scared Miles into his "pass as a last resort" shell. The Crowton years were also whenever the presnap procedural penalties started happening more often and the getting the play in on time troubles began. Crowton had a well documented history of his offense's production declining too.

He didn't develop Randle El as a QB, he developed him as a running back... as someone who went to every home game Randle El ever played at IU, it's amazing that a guy can have that great of stats and still only get 2 - 3 wins a season... Cameron was terrible at IU.

Very split. Everyone that was excited were so because of his QB development with brees, rivers and flaco. Everyone upset were so because he had just been fired.
