What was wrong with JJ?

I understand he was never lights out good but he couldn't hit the side of a barn today. Seemed 'late' on every play and by the time he scrambled, you knew it was too late. It felt like the 4th quarter of the Florida game all day long.
I hope the pressure from Lee isn't causing him to regress because the intent should be to get him to improve. I just hope this was an off day else LSU will be pretty bad this year. I mean struggling to make a bowl game bad.

He was not going through his progressions quick enough at all.
Jared lee actually was going through his progressions. That was the first time I saw an lsu qb do that since Flynn

Nothing was wrong with JJ; he plays like that ever day of his life.If I was JJ and played like that;I would bench my self.Coach let JL start and I will come in when you need me.......

He's not that good. He doesn't seem to be improving at all, which is especially disappointing considering all the talk that they were simplifying the offense to make it easier on our QBs.

What was wrong with JJ?
No command or leadership of the offense.
No aggressiveness.
Too indecisive and tentative.
Can't throw the deep ball.
His receivers dropped about 5 sure catches.

Agree with everything TnA posted and I'll add the following:
Poor, poor mechanics. Has a goofy windup. Most quarterbacks can only dream of having the quick release of Marino (quickest draw ever) or Elway or Favre, but JJ isn't even as quick as Steve Walsh. Overcompensates for late decisions and goofy windup by putting too much air under the ball. Has strange emotional reactions on the field. Don't know why he sits alot after contact. Very troubling. He cannot be improved. Neither can Lee. Move on to the next project.

It's time to stop waiting for JJ to become a good QB. He simply isn't that good. There's been virtually no improvement.
The truth is that our QB situation is not going to be any better this year.

I have to agree he looked pretty bad.He just seems to be lost I am starting to think he just is not very smart and can not grab the offense . The look on his face is pretty empty.

He'll be fine. He's a top 4 QB in the SEC when he's running healthy.

Time for Les to earn his paycheck and come up with a creative solution or GTFO of Tiger Stadium.

Are you talking about the game today or all last season? He.is.not.the.answer.

All indications are that JJ is a smart guy. Football IQ is another ball game. LSU doesn't seem to be teaching its QB's how to run a team.

I do not think Lee has improved but I do think #9 has now regressed to his level or below. This will get ugly in September. Poor talent level and no coaching is a bad combo.

Is jj related to aaron brooks?

I dont understand why people expect JJ to have progressed so much. Its been 3 months since his last game. He really never overly impressed anyone in the 09 season, so why does anyone expect a miraculous change in 3 months.
The whole spring game reminded me of the 2009 season. Coaching remains the same pretty much and the offense pretty much still looks confused.

This. And people do not seem to understand that intelligent people are not always "quick". It is a lot more about being mentally quick to make reads and decisions rapidly, with big guys flying at you. And his long windup and average arm don't give him the tools to help make up for being slow to make a decision.

He is like a Jason Campbell clone but not as good. Has alot of Marcus Randall in him too. No disrespect intended. Nice to look at on the field until the play starts.
