He wasn't terrible at OK State, a mid-level BCS team would take him because he isn't a bad recruiter and has a ring.

Anyone with any credibility and in the know at OK State will tell you that Miles did a fine job there, and set the stage for Gundy. The OK State facilities would make LA Tech look like Jerry Jones Stadium before their recent investment by Boone Pickens. I have been a cautious observer of Miles from 1998 forward, and while I had to choke at some of the comments he made to the media while at OK State, I admired the fact that he was about the only person in the state of OK that didn't bow down to Bob Stoops. He rallied a much less talented team to a point of being competitive with (and beating) OU, which is very hard to do in this state. Gundy took over a much better situation after Miles left, and most OSU fans will credit Miles for helping them get to the next level.

And, whether you want to accept it or not, Miles has done just fine at LSU - many, many coaches would love to have his resume. I suspect that Miles could find a very good job elsewhere if he's run off from LSU. No doubt, Miles has his faults. But, I admire his loyalty to LSU, his tenacity, and his commitment to his players and coaches. He's handled the Mallveto debacle with class last year, and I'm sure he'll handle the Crowton situation well at the end of this year. And, he'll likely take some advice and find a good OC who will simplify the offense to a more traditional LSU power and pro-style offense, and help him with clock-management. And, hopefully the recruiting will continue to be strong in spite of the fickle fanbase.

how do you think he'd do without all the 4 and 5 star recruits?

that could be said about a lot of coaches. Pete Carrol comes to mind this year, as does Mac Brown many years.

2 out of 4

he left OSU 28-21

yeah, dont bother to put that "2 out of 4" into its proper context.

in his first year, OSU was 3-7. OU was defending NC and 11-1. Miles won.

In his second year, OSU was 6-5. OU was 11-1. Miles won again.

and while its true Miles left OSU after 4 years and was 28-21, saban was 26-22 after 4 years at Mich State. so, you know, frick you.

LSU could have gotten away with this years ago.

The fans weren't paying for expectations.

Saban changed that.

What the hell are you even arguing? I'm not talking about LSU at all, I'm saying that if we fired him (which I would like) that he would find a job somewhere because there are teams who could do worse (like Colorado for example).

I'd bet Miss State would hire him if they didn't have a coach. If Spurrier were to retire, I'd bet South Carolina would like him. And, that's two SEC schools. Lots of schools would jump at the chance to have Les Miles if he were to come available.

He's a national embarrassment right now.

have you turned on your tv or radio today?

I highly doubt any BCS team would want les miles at this point.

well, thx again. its still weird to me that anyone reads that stupid thing. someone pointed out that Tyler has more readers a month than details, GQ and vanity fair combined. maxim is the number one "mens" magazine. playboy is 2, mens health is 3. tyler gets more than maxim, and more than playboy and means health combined.

considering its just my dumb arse sitting in my kitchen, thats hard to even wrap my head around. i try not to even think about it or i get freaked out.

Alot of mid level bcs schools would want Miles, this thread is ridiculous, and everyone would have argued against you just last week. And no matter how bad this weekend was, alot of those schools would still want him. This thread is ridiculous.

right now, as in today. next week it will be somebody else and all will be forgotten. there are many BCS schools who would come calling for Les Miles if LSU were to fire him. LSU fans have had their expectations raised and don't realize what the bottom is really like. We're far from the bottom.

And, with availability and money not being an issue, I'd bet as many as 10 - 15 schools would be interested. Some might even be willing to can their current coach for Les Miles. The guy has a 50-14 record at LSU.
