You just said you find college baseball boring. Why are you even here right now?
The OP asked who which sport at LSU had the best coach. I gave my honest opinion. I may find CBB (and MLB) fairly boring, but that doesn't really have anything to do with my opinion RE: the accomplishments or LSU's Big 3 coaches. I didn't even put CJJ in the discussion if it makes you feel better. Les Miles' legacy is being built in a much more competitive and public environment than any college baseball coach.

Les wins that easily by default.

Did everyone forgot what LSU had before CPM came here?
Why did Florida suck so bad after urban left? Arkansas after Petrino left??
Why the hell is les miles always held to a different standard?

Baseball by a long shot, BB far behind this, and then FB.

let's compare the two
Naitonal Championships
Both 1
Conference Championships
at LSU
both 2 (CPM has won 4 conference tournaments)
overall
Miles
2
CPM
6
Coach of the year
Miles
1
CPM
3 (if you count CPI and Rivals)
All Time Record
Miles
123-45
CPM
1177-625-7
LSU record
Miles
95-24
CPM
315-133-2
NCAA tournament appearances/ bowl games
Miles
12
CPM
14
CWS/BCS bowl games
Miles
3
CPM
4
Other accomplishments
Miles won big 12 coach of the year once is 2002
CPM was the winningest coach at St. Thomas his first coaching Job.
CPM was Second winningest coach at Air Force
CPM won the Big East tournament 5 straight years at Notre Dame.
Both CPM and Miles are good coaches and have a lot of success. If you only look at LSU they are very even, but I think if you look at how CPM had success a places that don't normally have success, I think that puts CPM over Miles.
Note you may look at the record and say Miles is better than CPM
that isn't a fair comparison LSU last year had the best record in this history of the school 57-11 if you transfer that into a football record that is 12-2 usually not good enough to win a national championship. 50 wins is considered really good in baseball so LSU would have a great year going 50-18 transfer that into football. That is 10-3 rounded up that isn't great but only good. I put their overall record to compare but it's a bad comparison because they are different sports.

Doesn't matter who the HBC is. Either you're a Tiger fan or not.

I think CPM and CLM are very similar, from the number of titles to the frustrating gameday decisions.
I do believe CLM has done a better job of surrounding himself with great assistants (though that was not always the case).
CJJ hasn't been here long enough to even be in the conversation. Although, he does seem to fit the LSU coaching mold with great recruiting and really frustrating gameday decisions.

Les surrounds himself with great coordinators and incredible talent, so I will have to give the nod to Maneri. What Maneri is doing with this team and mediocre assistants gives him a slight edge on Ole Les.

Must be something in the water in BR...all 3 pull head-scratchers during their respective games.
All have had success.
All have had success.

quote:PM has also missed the post season a couple of times. Les Miles hasn't missed a bowl yet. Even if you give PM a break for the first year of suckage he still missed the post season 2 years after a nc.
Les took us to a BCS Bowl in 2006, 2007, 2011.
Paul took us to the CWS in 2008, 2009, 2013.
Les=Paul.
interestingly enough both had terrible years after their national title and both ended their best seasons with huge disappointments. I still think les is better but just by a smidge.
