10-2 if not, why was Miles fired then?

Miles was not fired because of the record.
Miles showed his colors and arrogance in the NC game vs Alabama...
His OFFENSE was boring and PREDICTABLE ...
yet, when given a chance to change it .. HE DID NOTHING ABOUT IT..
THAT (lack of vision and predicable future) got him fired, not the actual record.

Remember Jerry Stovall...Coach O will not be treated any differently much is given much is expected.

Stovall was an emergency hire, and he kind of stunk up the place during his 4 years as coach.

O wasnt my first choice, but im still a pro O guy. Having said that 9 wins would be the lowest win total thats somewhat excepted. That many road games will be tough.

As long as we beat Texas A&M and Alabama, we are good.

O won 5 outa 7, gave Saban (and the refs) all they could stand after having a week to install his system. Some folks here seem to see only the black lining in every silver cloud.

He'd have to go winless in the SEC to get fired after 1 season. But if Kiffin can win 8-9 games/yr at FAU and Ed doesn't get to the SECCG in 3 years, LSU likely goes after Kiffin for HC.

With Ole Miss on tDecline and MSST back to being MSST and Arkansas already peaked and aTm about to go thru a season where they fire Sumlin and Florida having no outlook other than a worse offense next year, it's Auburn that may or may not regress. I expect 10 wins minimum.

Does Orgeron survive a 6-6 or 7-5 season next year?

frick no. There is no excuse for losing 6-7 games when we have had 4 straight great classes.
No excuse.

Are you kidding? Our last 4 recruiting classes were 6,2,6,3. There is no excuse for losing 6 games. Next year.

And how many games did we lose last year with three of those classes??? If LSU goes 6-6 next year O will be retained.. however you are helping me make my point that a lot of Miles teams won more on talent than Miles coaching ability.... I think that's what you are trying to say about coach O.

He shouldn't. He has zero excuses.

Every team that consistently wins relies more on talent than coaching.
When Nick Saban can put in 2 nosetackles in against lsu and shut down our run game, other coaches arent saying," why didnt i think of that?"

No one wins in cfb without talent. Just look at Nick saban before bama.
When he didnt have a huge talent advantage he was winning more than 7 games one time at Michigan State, losing 3 games every year but once at lsu.

There are so few coaches in cfb that are great recruiters and great game day coaches. Thats what makes them the best coaches in cfb.

Holy fricking shite, no!!!

Hell, 8 wins would be dicey imo.

The West is down right now. 4 OOC wins, Miss State, and A&M should be locked in as wins.

If he can't go better than 2-4 against the only good teams on our schedule, and that's including Arkansas and a rebuilding OM and Tenn, the binder should be closed.

Agree with you on the standard, but I don't see him getting fired at 6-6. F. King wants to run the program on the cheap. If we fire O, we'll be paying Miles to not coach, O to not coach, and the new guy to coach. Plus Alleva the Clown will be hiring O's replacement.

The question is Had Les Miles survived this year to finish 7-4 and then followed up with another 8-4 next year , would he be retained? My question then becomes should Orgeron be treated any differently just because its his first year?

Sometimes I wish we had those 4-8 seasons again so you people that cry about 8-4 would either shut up or cry more

LSU most likely will go 9-3 in the regular season next year. That is OK with me for 2017 since it is a new staff's first season and we play 5/8 SEC games on the road.

That's just flat out retarded logic and loser mentality. And get off your horse, I was a student through 5 of SIX STRAIGHT losing seasons, including the '92 2-win cluster fuk.

8-4 on a consistent basis is no longer acceptable. PERIOD.

9-3 at least to move forward. 8-4 is shaky. 2018 would have a razor thin margin like Miles had going into 2015 and 2016. For those who fear O will have a long leash because he is Louisiana boy don't. He will be watched like a hawk. Too much to lose not to.

Could be better than 9-3. UTk should not scare anyone. I know we got the mulligan game in the swamp. But how good UF really will be. Not much more than what we saw from them this year. We have Aubie at home and we have done very well against them over the years in BR and I expect that to continue.
