For me it was Davon Godchaux
Cat is for real. Never got to see any film on him so wasn't sure if he'd stack up to his billing but he was solid for game one. Should be a beast by season's end. A close second was the return to form of Jalen Collins.

Offense--Diarse--guy was money...ran good routes, came back for the ball on that 3rd down out, broke tackles...caught the ball and made huge plays.
Defense--Kwon Alexander...seemed like he was everywhere...made a ton of plays...great energy, really enjoyed watching him play.

Godchaux.
I was a big fan of his during his recruitment and thought he was a top 50 player in the nation.
But, he tore his ACL early on in his SR year and missed the rest of the season. He also was a 260lbs DE.
I thought he would be a great player for us, but I didnt think he would be as good as he was in the 1st game vs a very disciplined and well coached OL that Wisky had.
And the most impressive thing about him IMO is his build. Typically out of high school, you have DL that need to shed a few lbs and get leaner, like Bain last year, or you have guys that need to bulk up and add weight to play DT, like Brockers.
Well, Godchaux didnt have any problems with that and its impressive because he couldnt do anything til the summer due to his ACL recovery. But he is a 300lbs man that doesnt need to shed weight or get rid of some baby fat and he doesnt need to add that much weight either. His legs and arms are damn near the same size and he is built like an NFL DL right now.
Godchaux gonna be a beast for us.
And Thomas played great, but he was really good for us last season as well when he got on the field. Dude is a playmaker. PERIOD. And is a very smart football player. There was 1 play that was eerie similar to the play we lost to Bama on in 2012. The play where we were in nickel package, Bama sold the pass so Mills blitzed and left Yeldon open and executed the screen pass perfectly... the same play happened vs Wisky only DT sniffed it out and stuck with Gordon.
In that situation, the DB that is on the RB is allowed to blitz and get after the QB only if the RB stays in to block. If he goes out for a pass, you stick with him obviously. Well Wisky looked like they were going to pass it downfield, DT started to blitz the QB, recognized that Wisky was setting up for the screen pass, recovered and was on Gordons hip pocket the entire time and it caused the QB to just throw the ball away. I beleive that was a 3rd down as well.
I also thought Rasco played his best game at LSU. I wasnt thoroughly impressed with him last season and thought he was an average DE. But he was really good on Saturday.
Diarse as well, but i was kinda expecting him to step up this season. And I was really impressed at how comfortable Quinn was out there in his 1st game in that environment vs a very good Wisky team. He was very relaxed and composed out there and looked like he was very confident in the playbook and his reads. Gonna be a great 1.
Man... we just lost 2 stud WRs in OBJ and Juice. But we could have an even better overall WR group in the next 2 seasons or so. Dural could go pro after this season, and he might because the dude is a speed demon and is extremely polished and natural WR. But he could stay maybe... so Dural, Diarse, Quinn, Dupre, and then DeSean Smith at the TE spot. And Chark and Spears as well.
