he had ONE great season and left for the NFL where he hasn't done much. doesn't deserve it, imo.

What name should be put up next to Billy Cannon? convict or felon

McClendon.
Then, Bob Broadhead. He's the one who really brought LSU out of the doldrums and into building quality atheletic teams.

Yes they were good at LSU, but they should have also been good at pro for an extended period.
NO, no, no. Pro career should have nothing to do with it. By this criteria people like John David Crowe, John Cappelletti, Ernie Davis, Jay Berwinger, Archie Griffin, Gino Torretti, or Glen Davis couldn't have their names on their respective stadiums...

My vote is for the best player at their position in their era playing at LSU, not taking into account of Pro Football.
1. Billy Cannon
2. Doc Fenton
3. Glenn Dorsey
4. tie Tommy Casanova
Gaynell Tinsley
There is gap down to the next five which are all very close:
6. Ken Kavanaugh Sr.
7. Charles Alexander
8. Jerry Stovall
9. Michael Brooks
10. LaRon Landry
A smaller gap to the next few
Ben Wilkerson
Josh Reed
Eric Andoslek
Ronnie Estay
Wendell Davis
Steve Van Buren (wonder what he would have done had he not been the blocking back for two years, and that rushing and scoring total was with him missing near two complete games in 1943)
Martin Lally the best player not many here have hear of.
etc...

How the hell did Cannon get in?

Honestly, only Cassanova, Little, and Kevin Faulk could be up there... other than Cannon. We'll see how Dorsey pans out... Addai didn't do much for LSU because of the RB by committee, but I still love the guy.
I don't think their number should be retired, just given to athletes who could live up to the numbers history... or at least not make it look foolish.

How about the name "Chinese Bandits"?

Legendary though they are, probably not PC in the 21st century. I know we play the song on every 3rd down defensive stop, but to galvanize it with a charged phrase that can be misinterpreted as racist will not fly in 2008. Better to put a giant picture of the bandits, wearing their masks, with no textual comment, than the words "Chinese Bandits".
