Yeah, I don't have anything against Butch Davis. I think the Miami program was going through a lot of turmoil when he took over.

But, with alot of these posters on here, the grass is always greener on the other side with them.

My hope is to see LSU return to the top of the SEC mountain and have Miles coach another decade with several SEC title wins to his name.

I also like what you said about Butch and Richt, Stoops, and Brown.

I'm sure if you asked a good percentage of these frickheads on here how they feel about Butch and then what they think the other 3 coaches, they'd probably tell you those coaches aren't strong for one reason or another but that Butch is.

Worst case scenario? A huge fissure opens in the Earth's crust and swallows all SEC teams. Then we have to listen to how great USC is again.
Ok.... all kidding aside. I don't even consider a worst case scenario. Not so much for Miles, but for the team. These are kids working their arse off for the program. True, Miles will benefit, which is ok. I have nothing against him. I like the guy.
All this conjecture is pointless. I do it to. It's hard not to. All we can do is say "Geaux Tigers!" and stand behind our team!

You cant' be intelligent and say, "He's not as good as Saban, therefore, he sucks." That's just terrible logic.

I didn't say that.

your premise is false

Your premise is that if we keep Les Miles, the team will be somewhere in the range of 5-7 to 8-5,
FOREVER and EVER, AMEN.

Keeping Miles does not doom LSU to mediocrity.

I think they will challenge for the BCS national championship in 2011 with QBs JL, JJ and Chris Garrett, and maybe Z Lee.

I admit I am disturbed by some elements of GC's play calling.
Nevertheless, although its wild and crazy, it sometimes hits the mark, see Auburn 2007 passing on the last play, when I would have thought a field goal was in order.

i don't want LSU to have a 5-7 type season no matter who the coach is. imo les should catch a LOT of heat this year should he lose more than 3 games. i know the schedule is touh, but he makes far too much money to be losing 4-5 games a year. the bad thing is, if the offensive line doesn't improve we could be looking at another 5 loss season. i know jj catches a lot of heat, but it starts in the trenches.

LSU has 3 guarantees with ULM, Vandy, McNeese

I think we really only have two in ULM and McNeese (God willing).

Vandy is in the extremely likely catagory but no guarantee.

I see it this way from the worst case scenerio:

9/4 North Carolina - Toss Up favoring UNC
9/11 at Vanderbilt- Probable Win
9/18 Miss. State- Probable Win
9/25 West Virginia - Favors LSU
10/2 Tennessee - Favors LSU
10/9 at Florida - Likely Loss
10/16 McNeese St. - MUST WIN
10/23 at Auburn - - Toss up favoring Auburn
11/6 Alabama - Likely Loss
11/13 UL-Monroe - MUST WIN
11/20 Ole Miss - Toss up favoring LSU
11/27 at Arkansas - Toss up favoring Arkansas

I think the bare bones worst is 4 wins (Vandy, MSU, McN, ULM ) but more likely worst is 6 (WVU & Tennessee).

Forget Bama and Florida, I think the biggest "must" is that we must at LEAST take 2/3 from Auburn, Ole Miss, and Arkansas. If we finish 4th or worse in the West, heads will need to roll.

I will never cheer for failure and I have no impact on the coaching changes, but another 4-5 loss season will require SERIOUS evaluation of the program's direction.

but c'mon LSU out-athletes the Commodores

LSU out-athletes almost everyone we play, yet we went 8-5 last year and flirted with losing to Miss State, Arkansas and La. Tech.

I know. Didn't mean to accuse you of that. And though I don't agree with your doom and gloom outlook, this is an interesting topic. I'd definitely take 8-5 over 5-7. However, I might rather go 4-8 than 7-6, assuming 7-6 keeps him around. I love Les, but 3 years is plenty.

"worst" case scenario

We finish second or third in the West, go to a non-BCS New Years Day (or Peach) bowl, and continue our descent into mediocrity. We win no championships whatsoever, Alabama wins the SEC, and other SEC schools begin to close-in on Louisiana recruits. Rinse and repeat in 2011.

Where is all this pelini love coming from. can't you say pelini is winning with calahan players? why is it ok for him to win with someone's players but the coach who people want pelini to replace won with saban players.

I'm really trying to understand some this thought process.

Wasn't Pelini the d-coordinator when Arkansas ran for almost 400 yards against LSU?

the worst case scenario is losing to McNeese and U LA LA but beating Bama and Florida. THAT would get some people pulling hair out, worse than losing them all.

best case scenario is winning them all, winning the SEC CG (beating Florida TWICE!) and the BSC champ game vs Boise, which LSU wins 38-17.
