I know he will be considered to be a top flight candidate for H.C. by a lot of schools, but what dollar figure could keep him happy to stay as D.C. at LSU? If he keeps producing like he is, it has to be attractive to the best defensive talent in the country to come to LSU and play for him as a D.C. Does anyone really know what his H.C. aspirations are, or are we assuming he naturally wants to be the head guy somewhere?

All I've heard is that he'd like to be an NFL DC, but I don't know if that is even accurate.

In September 2009, the Los Angeles Times, citing an NFL source, reported that the average NFL defensive coordinator made approximately $850,000. A few made more than $1 million

This data is now a few years old, but looks like we are staying on par to keep him if it's all about $$$... but prob nothing we can do if it's personal aspirations.

Good Lord. We just played our first game.

Were you like this with your wife a week after your wedding?

BYU is terrible on offense they had trouble moving the ball on Portland Freakin state. Our defense will come back to earth in SEC play. We lost 4 NFL players last year. Our defense will take a step back this year. Hopefully not much tho

You know what I mean.

Enjoy him while he is here instead of fearing the day he will leave.

Look what he did at Wisconsin with there talent. Did you see how those freshman studs played. We also had 13 guys out. Pitch a shut out and hold a team to - rushing yards. Pay the man what he wants.

I think its been mentioned that he does have aspirations, but being a head coach means dealing with a lot of bull shite. I bet he chooses to stay defensive coordinator at LSU for a couple more years. He sees the young talent he has to work with and can do some special things before taking the next leap. He's already making NFL money.

I would rather have this problem than the problems we have had in the past, of course he will leave, when and where who knows and we have a HC who will find another top quality guy until then enjoy him and our Team while he is here

He has only ever interviewed for college and NFL DC positions. It was reported last year that while working on the new contract he relayed that his goal was to be an NFL DC. In response LSU payed him more that all but the top NFL DCs. It's up to him and how much of a pay cut he's willing to take to get NFL coordinator on his resume, but I don't think it's crazy to assume he stays here this and next year then takes his pick of NFL jobs.

Damn, he already makes $1.8 million dollars annually, more than any other coordinator in the country and more than most head coaches. How much more do you want to pay him?.
