did you miss the Carolina game this season? worst quarterback play i've seen in my life
Like that game really mattered. If you would take Russell as a back-up over Brunell you are a fool. He is a cancer to ANY team that signs him.

Oakland Raiders. I hear Campbell is the starter, so yeah.

waste a roster spot for Mark Brunell?
Do you seriously not knwo the fricking difference between Brunnell and that piece of shite JR?
In the locker room, on the field, in the community, on the sideline.....etc
JR is a former Tiger great and he'll always be a TIger when it comes to that.
But he has a long long long long way to go before he is almost ready to even carry a clipboard. Guys understand this please, it's not that he can't throw a 20 yd out route on a rope, its the fact that he offers NOTHING else right now except liability.
Ryan Leaf was a GREAT college qb. He was considered as good or better than Manning by many "experts" in the league.
But he didn't have it once he got his head in the wrong place and never could get it back. He couldn't even get a job in the entire league after that.
JR is done for all intents and purposes in the eyes of the teams. I would take alot for someone to WANT him instead of giving a shot to a hard working team player who is willing to do any and everything to get a spot.

Yes Brunell is 40 years old and threw 30 passes in the last 3 years. He is ready to retire. Russell was put in a bad situation and with so much athletic ability has never been challenged in his life to know what competition is. He was put in a bad situation in Oakland. Sean and Drew could help him if he is willing to take a reasonable salary and if they can't help him, then no big deal the Saints still have Drew.

Unless there are intangible reasons, Brunell is easier to replace than a kicker or punter. In other words, I agree with you.

Not even a legit backup.
Why
According to one of the ex NFL coaches, the backup quarterback has to be one of the most dedicated and hard working players in the league. His reason, he doesn't see the field very often so he must depend on self motivation to stay ready when he is needed.
Does that description fit JR?

Yeah history doesn't provide much in his favor based on that.
I still look at his first couple of years numbers and think/hope that there might be some chance.
And Mike Vick got a chance.
If JR wants to play, first call should be to Tony Dungy.

JR is out!!
He has proved his worth!! #1 draft pick who turned out fat, lazy, out of shape and poor attitude ( rich $$ too I may add) May have been a physical specimen, but not much upstairs!! Why would any team take that risk.............you can coach someone who works hard, applies himself and wants to learn, but the big "lizard" hasn't proved to anyone he is willing to do that!
Broke in Mobile in 3 years! Geaux Shrimping JR!

Brunell is shite at his current age,if Brees left a game for five minutes the game would be over with 4 to spare. Almost anyone is better than him at this point.

How did you make this shite up, he isn't T.O or a PacMan Jones, etc. He has only caused problems for himself with his weight and laziness. Why not take a shot at him, maybe under Brees and Payton(please don't compare them to the shite house over in Oakland), he'll learn how to be a pro and grow up seeing as this would be his last chance at playing football in the NFL. If he doesn't work out cut his arse and it's over

Kobiyashi and Joey Chestnutt?

Thats where you are way fricking wrong. He caused problems for his team, the organization, the fans, the whole community and the NFL by doing what he did.

Not JR. At this point he doesn't belong in the game.

Thanks, crowbar. That's a pretty good post.

I would say the 49ers but they just signed David Carr. Singletery would berate him openly and make him work for every penny paid to him even if its on the practice squad. He'll also lock him in the shed and throw away the keys. JR will thank him for it as many other divas are doing today on the niners squad.

The perfect team for JR? Pillsbury.
He could be the first chocolate doughboy.
