Tommie Harris is listed as running a 5.03 40 according to this link
that's incorrect. he ran right at a 4.7
as a matter of reference, never use cnnsi. it's by far the most unreliable of the major news sites

say what?
Everyone knowing you run a 5.1 40 as an OLB is a pretty bad rep.

But, sure, let's revamp our entire coaching system and throw away our success as a college team so some message board types can pump their chests about some former players' 40 times at the combine.
what is wrong with having a faster team ?

DBG, my point wasn't that I did moffit's program. My point was you retards have no idea what you are talking about on all sides of this issue. There is a reason why Moffit is paid so well. He produces. Look at where our program has gone. Unless you have ever worked out with a strength and conditioning coach, which clearly none of you have, shut up. You have absolutely no idea and will never have a clue what you are talking about. It is amazing how you think you know everything because you know how to use google. Congrats, my 3 year old cousin can do the same.

Landry too (although I suspect that he was friends with ARod's cousin, so maybe it's not Moffit).
i hate to go there, but yeah...

personally the bench press is not all the sport specific for football.
a player should never be in a position on his back laying where he is pushing a guy off of him.
I also know the university of memphis doesnt rely on the bench press as much for their football team.

i can't look at historical data and compare it because i never lifted in a hatch-based system?

i have worked out with an S&C coach, a guy who won 6 louisiana state titles
but thats irrelevant...why do our players suck at the combine? after all, thats the purpose of this thread
i also would like to know why explosive players are turned into average players

I agree with you about Keiland. He is clearly not as explosive as he once was, and that really annoys me as he was my favorite running back at LSU during his freshman and sophomore seasons.
But who else has been bogged down by the staff? Rahim Alem has been misused by the coaches, but he is still a great speed rusher. Vincent and Alley Broussard both had serious injuries and did not have the self-discipline to return to their previous form. Shyrone Carey was just too small for SEC football.
On the other hand, Clayton, Devery Henderson, Landry, Bowe, Craig Davis, Addai, and D Byrd all showed their speed at the combine. Guys like Chevis Jackson and Craig Steltz never had sprinter's speed to begin with, and Ali Highsmith was never a 4.5 sprinter.
The only legitimate gripes I see at the moment are Keiland losing his explosiveness and Alem being severely underutilized as a speed rusher last season.

i'm REALLY curious to see how all of this super DB talent translates at the future combines
jai eugene, for example, looks like he's gotten WAY big and a lot less explosive

that's what ole coach murphy use to tell us what the bench press was good for. either that or pushing up to get your face out the mud after you got frieght trained.

I have a feeling Chad Jones and Patrick Peterson are headed that way as well.

I know, I was actually agreeing with you and Slow in regards to Trev...he doen't really fit this argument though because I doubt he was ever fast to begin with.

Guys just look at my sig quote and you get a realization of what you are dealing with when discussing the combine with Slow.
This guy believes in the #s........he is worse than us guys in a LOST thread.
Picture the combine with a halo around it and Slow underneath on his knees facing towards it.
Guys like him truely feel this is what determines if a guy can play football.
Mine is a little different, I think the combine is good at determining work ethic, marginal ability, and how good you look without your pads on and thats about it.
Basically you can have your combine freaks and I'll watch game film.

slowflow you need to drop the peterman example it is dumb when he came out of St. Stanislaus he weighed 286 lbs and played TE. I played with stephen and he is still a very close friend he had terrible knee injury that should have ended his carear as a rookie he just signed a big 5 year deal and finally doing good. My point though is that Moffit got him to 350 and a 3rd pick he was a good but not great highschool player and moffit helped make him an all american. NO on complained about Chad L. strenght or explosiveness while he was at LSU. and Glenn was injured before the season as well though he did come back and play he played on the cheifs no one could have succeeded on that def.

awesome
until football involves double leg takedown and submission grappling, bench press wont have much of a use in football
