People forget that dinardo left a good bit of talent. LSU was a bad team and the program needed new leadership but the talent was there. The roster in 1999 is not terrible esp on offense.

Heck I love both coaches and appreciate what they have done for LSU.

Finally, a statement with good sense.
Saban@MSU - who cares
Miles@OSU - who cares
Saban@UA - just another club in the way, one of many

Saban@LSU
Miles@LSU

Many fans probably still feel Les is inferior to Saban.

if saban had stayed in the nfl much of this would not exist. but saban going to bama, having a shite first year (demonstrating that bama was crap when he arrived) and then tearing it up witn an sec title and 2 nc's(one against us)keeps some people in the dream world of wishing saban never left, etc, etc. i think miles will be in sabans shadow for years to come. at least with some people. at present, saban has to be viewed as the best college coach in the land but who knows what the future will bring. he got complacent at LSU near the end because of his visions of nfl stardom but seems to be super motivated at bama.

That pretty much nails it. CLM won't get his proper due till retirement I think (from some).

When I say Miles is underperforming at LSU

Only on a sports forum would we have someone equating the very most successful period in LSU football history with "underperforming".

How will Les be remembered? At this point in time, he's the most successful football HC in LSU history. If that's not good enough for you, I guess you will just have to suffer the hardship of having a HC at LSU who from 05 till now leads the BCS/SEC in wins, leads the West in titles, and has as many SEC titles as any SEC program.

BTW, your stats for Bama from 2007 to 2011 are not correct.

OP is definitely one the sad UA WoolyAl refugee types but the good thing is, when the weather isn't fair, they disappear (or change t-shirts). A lack of character that cannot be overcome.

Ummm......only to select few who don't see the bigger picture

Yes......1/9 going in LSU's favor or no mulligan for Bama would have changed this somewhat. But it is what it is....A'ight?

It sucks for Miles to only be compared to Saban.....since he's probably the ONE guy that is even in the conversation anyway

Richt....NO
Spurrier...NO
M Brown....NO
Tressel....NO

See my point?

I'm beginning to think that "saint" in a screen ID is code for non-LSU fan.

We don't know yet. "Legacy's" aren't determined until somewhere in the distant future. The whole premise of your question is a fail.

But what some people don't realize is that it's pretty frickin hard and luck has to go your way. Look at guys like Bowden, Spurrier, Stoops, Carrol. How many do they have? and they're considered the best in the business. Its harder now than ever too. I dont think there is much difference between the 5th ranked team and the 20th ranked team these days

I agree.

People who can't stand him for whatever reason are never going to be fair in their criticism.

Like I said before, the difference is just one game - Jan 9th, 2012. If Miles had managed to pull that win out, the whole thing would be flipped in his favor. God, I don't know when I will get over that loss.

Talking about being disingenous. You just don't like the guy. And there's a whole bunch of folk like you. Please spare us with your bullshite. If you don't like him and never will, that's fine. But don't come on here pretending as if it's really about the results. Give us a break.
