Eh I don't know. Pretty sure he only had 6 interceptions all year and 4 came in one game against the interception machine man himself Jay Cutler
I have to defend that comment, even though it was not mine and I do not think Hall is a great shut down CB.
But the total number of INT's does not make a shut down CB. The shut down CB's do not get the ball tossed their way because of thier abilities. So to measure a shut down CB by the number of int's is not correct.
Case in point...Woodson, Bailey, and Asomugha combined for 4 picks all season and those are the best 3 shut down CB's in the NFL...FACT!

I guess I am saying that even though I do not think Hall is a great shut down CB, the argument that him only having 6 picks is a reason to not include him is the wrong idea.
I do not think he is a top shut down CB because he gambles and loses a lot, as well as gets beat by the elite WR's in the NFL.

I can agree with you there. Another "Shut down DB" that i just thought about was vontae davis from the dolphins. Is he in the discussion?

So he's not as good as all-pro corners right now, thanks for that analysis chazz
And the fact that you can only point out like 4 games in his career that he didn't dominates means he's pretty awesome, FYI

Antonym = Houston Texan cornerback...

I am sure the Chief will read this thread and make the adjustments for the 2011 season - so much knowledge up in this bad boy.

Meh, I guess I'm a little more stringent, but the only two I would call "Shut Down" corners in the league are Revis and Asomugha at this point. McCourty has potential, but will still bite at the double move. Charles Woodson is a lot like PP, he'll make plays, but there are still holes in his coverage.

You could still throw Bailey in there too, but hes getting older and older.

Apparently your favorite team doesn't play the Jets that often

Love your revisionist history. Two out of the three times they played each other, Julio got the best of PP7, especially this season. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of a good argument.

The ginger also threw a lot of perfect passes.

Tom Brady throws a lot of perfect passes too, yet he rarely throws at Revis or Bailey and even more rarely has a completion against them.
Look PP7 is one of my favorites, but he gets way too much credit for being a "lockdown" corner. He is a physical presence, an amazing athlete and probably a future hybrid safety/corner, but he is not, nor will he ever be a Deion Sanders/Revis type of shutdown corner in the NFL. He may be the new template for a coverage safety, but he is not a shutdown corner...that was proven against Julio, against AJ Green last year and the year before and against UNC this year.

THIS. Threw a lot of short slants right as julio made his move. Almost impossible to defend in man coverage.

Saying jones got the best of him in 2008 is flat out wrong. 1. Peterson was still the 3rd corner and 2. He rarely matched up with Jones. It's more like Jones got the best of Chris Hawkins
And last year, Jones had a lot of catches, but his 8.9 ypc hardly illustrates him beating Pat. It just shows they threw a lot of short slant routes, that's all.
Those are the facts

Bama sure as hell didn't fear him and neither did Penn St last year.
Sooo 2 games in his entire career dictate if PP7 is a shut down corner or not?

Imagine the Broncos with PP7 and Champ Bailey! WOW!

I agree with you. Honestly, if the team uses him right, he will be Charles Woodson 2.0.
