The best possible scenario is the administration created this sophisticated disinformation campaign, leaking that it's going to be Ensminger. They release just enough information to play on people's worst fears - that O is dishonest, self-interested and doesn't know what he is doing - but because of politics, dysfunction, and the return of the sleazy, good ole boy network, we're just going to have to take and accept 8 and 9 win seasons as the ceiling, because otherwise, we're not loyal LSU fans. Who do we think we are, anyway?
That gets the fanbase so riled up that somehow, LSU has been secretly negotiating with a few guys that are not available yet (or just became available) like Sarkisian or the OCs of either Georgia or Alabama.
If that's the reality, I'm concerned about the deceit of the administration but I'm impressed with how that strategy was masterfully pulled off.
Do I believe that's what is going on? No. I hope I'm wrong but the reality is we're going cheap and getting Ensminger.
Honestly, we could have had better results for the HC hire and OC hire if there was no AD in the process at all.
