One would have to assume non paid people are counted in that. Media, recruits, etc.

Well I've heard announcements in stadium higher than the paid attendance numbers you posted. Just curious where these phantom
Numbers come from.

I don't think you've ever heard a paid attendance over 93k numbers I posted.

I wish I was Obama's press secretary. That job probably pays well and has some nice perks.

Lsusports.net is saying largest crowd 93k + and I know I've been in the stadium where a 93k + attendance was announced over the loud speaker. What you posted highest laid attendance in the 92k range. Just curious how this number is calculated then for "largest crowd" seems to me "largest crowd" would not include a bunch of no show phantom numbers but hey what do I know

At least 5 games from my link were over 93k paid.

I know I was at an LSU/Alabama game where there were no empty seats and 93,000 in the stadium.

I've stopped believing what they announce over the loud speaker.

It seems like every big game for the past 10 years they throw a number around 92-93k range and say its a new attendance high.

100K actual will never happen. LSU's never had a 90K actual crowd.

We've narrowed it down to three POSSIBLE games in the history of the program

You should probably decide to agree with it since no one has any proof that we've had a 90k actual attendance.

No, and why should people working that don't pay to be there count toward the attendance?

Actually, I'm pretty sure they do count toward attendance. Different schools can count their attendance differently, but I know for a fact that Michigan counts all passes issued, be they paid tickets or passes for stadium workers, band members, coaches, and even the players, as "paid attendance". I don't have proof, but I think that's standard practice among all schools.

So, my understand is that paid attendance is basically the total number passes issued for the game, regardless if it's a ticket for a fan or a pass for player, coach, worker, etc. Actual attendance is the number of people through the gates, and if they count employees and players as part of the paid attendance, I can only imagine that they also count them as part of the actual attendance.

So really, the actual number of fans showing up to the game simply to watch it and not to work at the stadium is probably smaller than the reported actual attendance.
