Sure and though that would be enough to easily lead this team in scoring, it really isn't that big of a deal.

He's not a bad player by any means, but you can't automatically transfer stats from one team to another, especially from the A-10 to the SEC.

How would LSU's players be doing in the A-10 right now?

I just think it's silly to bring up Louisiana players that are not at LSU as some kind of "gotcha!"

LSU's best two players are from other states. The highway goes both ways.

Not trying to be ugly, but do you know who is in the A-10? It is certainly a decent league.

Are we not over the good players can't play in non-BCS leagues thing yet? Did Steph Curry teach us nothing?

NIT
There are some wins out there like Ole Miss, Auburn, South Carolina, Tennessee and potential to beat Miss State at home, Bama at home, and Ark at home.

Will not beat UK or Vandy.

Adding one year to a contract will not be the deciding factor, that's for recruiting only.

I still think he gets another year, I think they're a whole lot better than they were the last two years and with the players coming back they could be really good next year.

O'Bryant and Hamilton in the post
Courtney needs some more court time
Nice guard rotation with Turner, Stringer, Hickey, Isaac and Morgan

While I agree that overall his performance has been shall we say less than impressive and the program as a whole is definitely not even average I don't think anyone could claim that this season has been a disaster, so he's not doing anywhere, at least not this year.

I love how a coach can be worse than mediocre after the most horrible stretch in the history of the program and "worse than mediocre" is suddenly okay. 8 SEC wins or fire his arse.

Welcome to the LSU basketball program. The standards for the sport here are low and getting lower. It really seems that no one really cares. For the record I do and I'd like nothing better than for LSU to make a commitment and pony up some big time money get a top notch coach with some name recognition to try to build the program. Other than a few (very few) exceptional years the LSU basketball program has been horrible since the early 90's.

Who is arguing otherwise? I have been saying this since the preseason.

I know all about the A-10. There are great players in every conference, many of whom would be stars at any school. I think Galloway is a good player. I don't think he is any better than the guards we have. I would love to have him, but I don't think he is some kind of savior or the "missing link" we need.

4 NCAA tournament wins in 14 years. Would you accept at LSU with that stat?

Since we have about 6 in the last 20 years, yeah.... I probably would.

And I'd much rather have a steady program that sticks its head up every couple of years than have to rebuild (like the last two seasons) every five years.

You turn your nose up at State's "mediocrity." Neither Brown, Brady or Johnson averaged 20 wins a season here (like Stansbury has.)

I'd take it in a fricking heartbeat. Only an idiot wouldn't.

Yet, here we are having the discussion.

but us making the NIT this season (still a very realistic chance of happening) is a positive result for the program.

Making the post season and having a winning record is vital to his remaining. imo

I don't think the 1 yr contract extention means anything.

I spoke to him at the Top 28 last year. He was pretty up front bout the idea of this season being a win or go home thing.

Well, he's been coach of the year in three conferences, which is REALLY hard to do when you don't know what you're doing.

He may very well understand that HE may not be able to win here. (His coaching style, recruiting philosophy, etc.) Doesn't mean he can't win here. Doesn't mean someone else couldn't win here. Doesn't mean he can't win somewhere else.

Look, I'm (pretty) good at what I do. Some places I've worked, it just hasn't worked out. I'm still doing well in my career.... those places are still in business. It happens.

I happen to believe in what he's doing. I see the progress that's been made from year to year, and I see the kinds of players he wants to bring in (4 year guys, GOOD guys.) I guess we'll see. I'm fine with 8-8 (though I STILL think we'll finish 9-7) as long as the team is playing hard.

I think he needs to go 8-8 in conference or better to deserve to keep his job. I think Alleva will keep him if he wins more than 5 SEC games which I believe is not a good thing. If he goes
6-10 in the SEC I dont think he should be here.

TJ needs to be 500 in the SEC If not he should be a gone pecan- Aleva should have never extended his contract-

I just think TJ is not a good fit for LSU- a decent coach and man but not the right guy for our program

That being said it would not suprise me that if he wins 4-5 games in the SEC ALeva gives him one more year

I agree, this team is a significant improvement over the last two years. They seem to be heading in the right direction but need a couple more pieces. The powers that be won't hire anyone better than Trent anyway, so keep TJ and see how they look next year.

If LSU won't spend the bucks to get someone big name, then we're no better off than Auburn, hopping from one sad starter-coach to another.

Edit: And if they get Gathers then they are in business.
