As of right now the Freak has had a better season his sophomore year than Dorsey had his sophomore. Give Freak some time, it wasn't until Dorsey was a senior until he really broke out.

Freaks Sophomore Year
30 Tackles 10 TFLs 3 Sacks

Dorseys Sophomore Year
28 Tackles 4 TFLs 3 Sacks

Dorseys Junior Year
64 Tackles 8.5 TFLs 3 Sacks

Dorseys Senior Year
69 Tackles 12.5 TFLs 7 Sacks

This! He had the best season over the Saban/Miles era for an LSU dlineman just two years out of high school. The only player that comes even close in their 2nd year removed from high school was Kyle Williams. Yet rantards say he is average when no other player, Dorsey, Jackson, Spears, Hill etc did not have his production in their 2nd year at LSU.

DT's are consistently not very productive when making the transition to college or pro ball. One of the best of all time, Warren Sapp...

first year at college = actually can't find anything, but he only broke out in 1994 and he was a 1992 grad
first in the league = 27 tackles, 3 sacks,

Furthermore, look at the production of all of them in the league...Kyle is light years ahead of all the others.

This guy is not going to just disappear! He will be the feature DT and will be looked at as "the man"! Losing both ends and with the thin depth at DT I see him on the field a lot more and see him padding his stats!

Honestly, i.think hes been a disappointment, but only.relative to his hype. He had no chance to live up to his.expectations. DTs rarely do so early. Brockers and Logan didnt break out till their RS So.years. So 2013.is the year Freak should.break out exponentially. But part of me worries that he peaked.too early.and came into.school already close to his ceiling i hope.not.not. We need.him to become dominant regardless if. Logan leaves, we need freak to be all american..

He hasn't peaked...his jump is unreal. Sometimes he takes himself right out of plays though because he is going away from teh play, but at what point do you ask him to not react that quickly?

The size mixed with amount of technique needed for tackles to be productive is why they rarely produce early in their careers. He'll be a stud next year...his progression is ahead of any of the LSU greats in the past 20 years at the lineman position.

None of the D-linemen will get elite stats in Chavis' system which has them constantly rotating. If you expect a 10 sack season from our interior linemen and a 15 sack season from our ends, then you will be disappointed.

If his partner in DT crime doesn't go pro, great things. If he's double teamed every play, meh.

Is he going to continue to be average or do you think he's gonna take it to another level a la Dorsey, Lavalais, etc........?

he's not average, he will be productive, our D-line will be fine.

I expect a quality individual who happens to be a fine football player, will certainly do what it takes between now and September to be afforded the opportunity to line up and compete among his teamates. And I expect that he will do so with excitement, and put forth quality effort when called upon
