The schemes especially on defense should have been more diverse against a Leach offense

Fair question. Our schemes were pretty bad on both sides of the ball for this game. Makes me wonder if Pelini and Ensminger refused to listen to them.

Is this the company line for why no attempt was made to take away that crossing routes that were killing us?

Not my job to figure that out. But ignorant old me could see what we chose to do was the wrong choice.

I wasn't happy with how our d played either but we missed plays also. Defense wasn't the only problem...and they did force 2 turnovers to allow us back in the game as well as scoring once in first half.

That kind of stuff gets overshadowed when you can't get off the field on 3rd and long and give up over 600 passing yards.

Take a look at Costello's stat line on3rd down and tell me the defense was not the major problem.

Didn't seem to be any attempts to adjust.

"Okay, it's third and a mile. Just where we want them. Run the deep cross we just scored on last possession."
-Mike Leach

"?"
-Bo Pelini

I agree we sucked...but I don't think this will be the defense we see every week.

I think no leadership, bad tackling, and offense underperforming were as big of factors as any.

the offense looked like arse, but still did enough to win. When you give up the kind s of 3rd downs we did constantly, the defense gets the blame. It's that easy.

the d also had 4 turnovers and a score and set us up in great field position on 2 other scoring drives...offense has its fair shame of blame

I didn't say the offense is blame free. Try reading before responding next time.

Both sucked Saturday but they have time to change it! Season is not over because we lost one game!
