re: What did JJ do that was so bad in the 1st half?

I agree. IG penalties basically insure you get the sack and then take a penalty. The sad thing is all he had to do was throw the ball past the LOS and move on to the next play. Was a pretty awful decision.

The grounding can be overlooked if other aspects of the game are fine. It was just a bad day for him. Even most JJ fan club members probably questioned why Lee didn't see a series or two in the first half.

You see it on this board quite a bit with the "ESPN hates us" type stuff. It seems to be important to them that Lee is "getting screwed".
This is both insulting and ridiculous. I think Miles' greatest blind spot in his coaching career has been for quarterback evaluation. I don't give a shite about any of that other nonsense. And the white southern man has been getting screwed over for the past 150 years, so it's usually well-grounded.

What is this thread about? Is anyone here claiming that JJ played a good game? These are the same people who get mad if you say that he won't even get a sniff by a NFL team. Calling people racist for thinking that JJ played poorly is stupid. JJ played like JJ. This was the second good defense that he played against this year and for the most part he was ineffective. The stats don't lie. Going a whole half without 1 first down is sad. And yes JJ is the one responsible for most of the problem. He is the quarterback that missed open receivers.

This. But I'm not in any position to question Miles.

I agree, but I think he probably knows he hasn't had much to work with the past 4 years...my problem isn't what type of job Miles is doing, it's the endless droning about some sort of sinister sub-plot designed to keep a certain player(s) down. Of course if I apply that same paranoia to my own life, it's pretty safe to assume that I'm going to project the same standard to other situations as well.
Of course this is a casual observation from someone who has lived in the south for 50 years, I really don't have any statistical data to back up the assertion...

Reason the offense was more balanced was because we had a passing threat.
Want to run the short side option like our 1st play last night or be able to run a play action with a post over the middle. Miles obviously thinks having the ability to attempt to run the option is more valuable than a passing attack.

No it isn't. It is marked AT the spot of the throw.

It doesn't need to be overlooked because it wasn't bad. He got mad pressure and was going to get sacked anyway, so he took a chance to not have the penalty called.

I will tell you what was so bad..... He could not get a single thing going on ofense, AT ALL, (no 1st downs and 16 yards offense)and instead of trying to pull togerher the troops and pump them up, or show that he still had fight in him by running off the field with emotion, he just slowly sauntered off the field everytime, head dowm, looking dejected.
That is not a leader, that is a whiney baby. He has done that shite his entire career and I am on the bandwagon that cannot wait for him to graduate. Give the keys to this machine to somebody who will lead them, not act like he just broke his favorite toy.
You may agrgue that the man is doing his best, but his best, after 4 years, should include a lot more leadership, and a lot less lame-duck passes and dejected 4 year-old crap.

because it wasn't bad

Shitty Oline or not, JJ played like shite.
Lee would've had his arse jerked out of the game after the 2nd series had he played as bad as JJ did.
What I don't understand is why didn't Miles put Lee in, or Mettenberger, for that matter, just to try to spark the offense? JJ was clearly struggling.
The 1st half was a nightmare scenario for us. One that Saban will do everything in his power to duplicate. Stuff the run and force JJ to pass. UGA fell apart but Bama won't.

I don't think you have been paying much attention to the discussions on this subject. The opposite is actually been proposed.
It's fair to say everyone wondered at some point why Miles didn't do something to spark the offense when you have two QB's, none who have really separated themselves from the other, and who split time in similar situations last year.
You can keep consulting your psychology and sociology books if you wish, but it's actually just common sense. It wasn't working, there is an adequate QB on the sidelines (two actually, at least) and there was opportunity.
Even most "JJ fans" here have said they anticipated a change, even if temporary

Agree with you on everything. There is no way in hell it has to do with character issues. If it does, then Miles is a hypocritical, inconsistent piece of shite, and I don't think he is. Look how long RP stayed on the team before getting suspended and eventually kicked off.

Over throwing his recievers, throwing the ball at the ground, and holding the ball too long...
But, none of that matters now.......
I,m just glad this jj-jl thing will no longer exist after the season is over......
Inconsistancy and not very accurate..

Why do you think Miles stuck with JJ?

Glad JJ's mother has an account. If we need a running back in the qb position, just have Hilliard take a direct snap and put another blocker in.

Who knows? I don't think anyone but Miles knows why he stuck with JJ and didn't make some kind of move. No one would have questioned him had he made it. Maybe he is just showing JJ some support following his suspension earlier this year. I have no idea, just would be a wild guess.
I was more surprised Lee didn't play more during the 4th against Arkansas. In his final game at home, in a year in which he was a fairly consistent contributor... you would have thought Miles would have at least given him a shot at doing something besides running the clock out. If you think it's just a few delusional people who wonder this, you would be wrong.

correct, which is why I don't judge one way or the other, I don't get pissed about situations I have no facts on...I can be curious about his decision, even question if he's doing the right thing...I've never had an issue with that

I agree...I've been a big Lee supporter since he arrived on campus and was hoping he'd get in earlier, but I don't have the facts on why. I'm disappointed for him, but I have no basis for being "pissed that he's getting screwed by Miles". My remarks concerned those folks who have taken this tack.
