Steeples was a high school coach when we hired him. Utterly ridiculous to give him the chance to follow up Cooper and Raymond

His results have been on par with what Raymond put on the field.

Corey Raymond may not a Bill Belichik-level defensive coach, but if he can get DBs into the building, that is most of the battle.

Why not go and find someone that can recruit & coach like a dawg?

That’s not true and you know it. Raymond’s career is posted above, you can easily reference and see that’s not true

The talk and feeling around here was that he had a bad attitude and wasn’t a cultural fit for what BK was trying to build. (No inside info though)

The fact that Napier cut Raymond before signing day supports this.

Raymond felt entitled to stay on and get promoted. He thought he should end up as DC eventually.

Per whom? He'd been effectively demoted when we brought in Busch (though I think that was a bit overblown) and stayed as CBs only under Pelini and Daronte. And then when he went to UF. You'd think he'd try to get more responsibilities as a coach if advancing to DC was his goal.

I've always wondered if him not staying at LSU was more about allocation of roles/ funds. Frank Wilson effectively became recruiting coordinator and I imagine makes a good bit more than Faulk did. House is paid well, as is BK himself.

Maybe BK said hey we don't really need you at this number if I can get someone else to do it - someone younger, presumably hungrier and cheaper. As mentioned above though, looks like he chose wrong in Steeples.
