So Prom whats your answer to this thread.
Last year was a clusterfrick. The Co-DC's didn't do anything for him. He fired them. That's +1.
This year, although it isn't pretty like all these people that have agendas with Miles want, this team has a chance to be 10-2. That's remarkable, IMO. Considering LSU starts a QB that is a year and a half out of high school. 3 new OL. Basically a whole new DL. 1st year DC.
The expectations to go further than that is just beyond stupid. You hope, sure, but expect it? That's insane.

I agree with your assesment totally but the question is IF Coach Miles left us for Michigan who would be your first choice to replace him?
Posted on 11/10/09 at 4:07 pm to Prominentwon
Not that it changes your point, but it's only 2 new OLinemen this year, and the OLine sucks donkey dick. As does the Dline. Which is why we didn't beat either UF or UA.

I 100% agree with you!!! He's got more character than most coaches (certainly more than Saban), he's got loyalty, he DOES know how to win, he's crafty, and underestimated. I'd rather have an understated coach than Lane Freakin Kiffin. Besides he hasn't done anything yet, except get into trouble.
Brian Kelly has had two - half good seasons. He couldn't do anything without Dennis Dixon, and has had 2 meltdowns this year (Boise and Stanford) - and can't even win the lame butt Pac-10 without issues.
Spurrier is 10 years past his prime - don't want Meyer at all. Weiss, Stoops, and the rest suck. We've got the best around and we need to get off his back. Remember we ran off McClendon - and in the mean time got Archer, Hallman, and Dinardo - what a crew of losers.....let's not go back!!!

I stand by Les as an excellent coach!
I guess some folks are either too young or senile to remember the awful string of coaches that we paraded around in the late 80's and early 90's. Those days...NOW they exemplified shitty coaching and God awful recruiting.

No, there's a difference between having expectations and pipe dreams.
No, there's a difference in having a simple view of a situation and a broader view. LSU could have done worse without Les Miles ever getting the job. LSU also could have done better.
If Miles were to leave, LSU could find a better, same or worse coach. Same thing when DiNardo was fired, Saban left, Brady was fired or Smoke was fired.

quote:So when he pulled Marcus Randall at Auburn after Marcus drove us for a TD, or when he had punts blocked vs Ole Piss, OK, and IOWA, or when he ran Mauck up the middle and got him hurt vs UF in 2002, or when we could not score an offensive TD vs UF at home in 2003, or when we lost to UAB even though he inherited 23 future NFL players from Dinardo, or when we got shut out at home 31-0 by BAMA,or when we had to score in the fourth quarter to beat Troy in 2004,or when our first play from scrimmage was a pick six vs AR in 2000 or Ole Piss in 2003, Or when we needed a miracle to beat KY, or when he offered a scholarship to Derron Parquet and not Mewelde Moore, noone complained? They should have.
no one hated on Saban's coaching abilities...people hated on him flirting with the NFL...

Jim Harbaugh
He has experience as an offensive assistant and QB coach in the NFL.
He turned San diego around in one year from 7-4 to two 11-1 league championship seasons.
He took a difficult stanford job and in two seasons has them competing for 1st in in the pac 10. Despite the difficulty of recruiting at an academicly challenging school against tough competition, he has hauled in increasingly better classes.

Are you serious??? JEEZUS CRIMONY!
TCU - really - is that a real conference????
Sarkisian - yeah, he's really produced his 1st year in the blocks...wow - beat USC - so did Stanford 2 years ago - guess Harbaugh's on the list too.
Pelini - GREAT GUY. Not a head coach. Would love him back with Coach Chavis - that would be awesome....he's struggling in the Big 12, and hope he does great up there. Class Guy, but not as good as ours is now.
Miles surely isn't the end all of coaching for LSU, but he's better than what we've had and we need to ride this wave as long as it lasts....Notre Dame, Michigan and others will come calling soon....hope we can keep him.

I like Butch Davis.
Although here lately, I don't know what the frick he sees in TJ Yates for the past 2 years.
I think he could do big things here.

You are all right - my apologies...Yes, Brian is at Cincy - also in a crappy conference.....that WVU, Pitt, and other no names have commonly vied for the conference title - not the BCS. Look how well Petrino is doing from the same recruiting region in a similarly equal conference to the Big East.

This is also a good choice, IMO. That man is going to win some games at Stanford.

I got
1). Bob Stoops
2). Chris Peterson
3). Butch Davis

Well I might not be as high and mighty as you are, but I wouldn't talk another person down. I might disagree, but that's why there's the 1st amendment. I truly hope you share your clear lack of intellect with all others you may not agree with, or who occasionally misspeak. I know for sure that you were more omniscient at your 17th post....

BK has never given anyone any reason whatsoever that he can't be successful at any level of football he is put at, and there's not much arguing that
Neither did Chuck Weiss before he started coaching at ND

Miles could be replaced with someone better. Or worse too.
I think that is really the point. The majority of fans know when it's time to do something.

to think he's the only possible person to handle the coaching job at LSU
I don't think anyone thinks that, that I know anyway but change for change's sake isn't always the best option.
Can't you see how people get frustrated with these kind of "better coach" threads when the season hasn't even been finished? Thats what really annoys me

I get a kick out of how may people have a problem with Les Miles.
Yet, the two most storied programs in college football, Michigan and Notre Dame, will probably be interviewing him for their soon-to-be openings.
It is a strange world when a coach is NOT good enough for LSU, yet he may be hired at those two universities. Wow.
