Robert Sands sophomore highlight film
Robert Sands

If you want to see our offense at work watch a little of this.
WVU vs MD
notice the quickness of tavon austin. Kid is a talent.

Fellas I'm pumped for Saturday! Win or lose it will be fun.

There is no need for us to underestimate the talent of the WV team. They are a talented team. If we underestimate them it would be a bad mistake.

I do think we have a much more talented team across the board and it will show on Saturday night. Just realize how many times we keep much less talented teams in the game until the end so be prepared for a similar possibility against WV.

But our running game should put up big yardage against the 3-3-5 WV D. If not, we are in big trouble if we have to depend on our passing game to save the day.

I hate to bust your bubble but our dcor already said he will use 4 dlinemen as needed this game. that means our juco all american that had 3 sacks against maryland will be playing more.

In my experience "bend don't break defenses" usually get "bent over" when they play teams that can run the ball.

LSU might not scare anyone with our "ground raid offense" but even if you know it's coming nobody can really stop it. LSU will run the ball, control the clock and allow the defense to stay fresh.

Unlike some people on this board I am just fine with winning 13-3 every week. I love smash mouth running and badass defense.

My only complaint is we don't run out of the I nearly enough, JJ is not as good a runner as Ridley or Shepard. Let him hand off more, I hate that read option crap.

this guy is more of a speed rusher, no? On our local show, they just said that we will line up in two te sets, which will leave four ol to block your ng, dt, de and our two blocking te are 255-260 lbs apeice. No matter how your d cuts it, it is undersized. to me, this looks like a recipe for four-7 yards a carry type rushing and if the rb can juke the safety, a big gainer.

Because the modern 3-3-5 is really like a modern 3-4 with a safety playing OLB...

Ding Ding, winner. The 3-3-5 is pretty good against the run with your D-lineman playing the gaps correctly. They can free up the DB's to help with run support and it allows more speed on the field.

However, as with any other scheme it all depends on your talent... we win that battle IMO.

This is how it should work, and I expect it to work, but then again so did UGA. They will have some speed in that front 7. Depends on how our guys handle the different look I guess.

West Virginia's 3-3-5 Defense
i dont think we have much of a choice seeing as how we really are no threat to throw it.

+1
Do we have an alternative game plan?

but then again so did UGA

Georgia moved the ball easily against WVU, but all in the second half when they were probably passing a lot...

I don't remember much about that game except UGA looked completely inept. I was just making the point that other teams have probably held the same notions about their scheme.

I just vaguely remember UGA falling behind big early, but then throughly dominating WVU in the 2nd half but not quite being able to catch up. But UGA had a passing game that year. Throwing the football...what a luxury.

Actually UGA did dominate the WVU defense because they went shotgun and went for it on 4th down on their own 30 etc and they never got burnt.

UGA never stopped WVU's offense though. Some 15 yard penalties did. Slaton set a Sugar Bowl record rushing against UGA and a lot of that yardage came in the 2nd half.

But UGA's qb could do no wrong throwing in the 2nd half and WVU's defense could not get them off the field. When UGA ran its "traditional" offense before they got down 28-0 WVU's defense did just fine.

That would make since if your defense was playing offense against our defense...but I'm pretty sure Les wouldn't do that, but who knows...the guy is LeauxCeaux!

Please don't get rid of Les if WVU wins the game, I got a white LSU hat that I got to get signed next year in Morgantown for my man cave.
