What happened to HBCU’s after integration is an example.

Athletics aside, were HBCU more successful academically when the races were segregated?

What they said was absolutely true. No need to run from it. Blacks couldn’t go to LSU, Bama, etc etc

It was the entire South.
There was also a time when there was separate restrooms.

This thread has turned into 10 pages of people who didn't even watch the damn documentary, but are arguing over left/right wing BS. Both of you suck for making crap the way it is. All you want to do is argue.

If you are on here, and haven't watched the damn documentary, then you are part of the problem...no matter which side you fall on.

Probably should have talked about it even more, then.

You’re having difficulty following along with different conversations happening in this thread. It’s cool, man. You can work for me when the time comes.

Nice comeback, btw

white on white crime is so laughably low when compared to black on black, it’s not worth even talking about. Or black on any other race, for that matter.

I must be forgetting all of the all white neighborhoods that are a no go.

xiv is actually a smart guy. Haven’t followed this thread at all, but I’m willing to bet whatever argument he’s made has a least been a valid one, right or wrong.

Also, I’m just now watching this doc. I don’t think they have said anything surprising so far. In a doc on the history of college football it’s kind of hard to ignore the segregation aspect of it.

He’s having difficulty understanding separate conversations, so I’m not so sure.

No one is denying segregation. It’s the way it was presented and what was proposed as further solutions that are the problem. It’s pure propaganda designed to make you feel a certain way to get a desired result. Don’t be so foolish as to fall for it.

I don’t think you truly understand the definition of the term “propaganda”

Material in the media can be bias or slanted without being propaganda. Fox News is biased as hell, but I wouldn’t necessarily call it propaganda. Same with CNN.

And don’t ever worry about my foolishness. I make a fool of myself constantly, but that’s none of your business.

They didn’t present what happened as only fact and nothing else. They inserted speculation and emotion driven arguments in order to try and convince you of a certain opinion. That’s propaganda, my friend.

If you can’t figure out that an hour long documentary entitled Anglo-Saxon Supremacy that proceeds to showcase white journalists telling you that everything you hold dear is wrong and detrimental to blacks

Bro. Statements like this are stunning and telling: Some folks really can't acknowledge the important, traceable thread of racism in an American institution like football without feeling they'd have to acknowledge that everything is wrong with it? They really can't separate out that, yes, there has been wrong done...and then see that, yes, we as a society, as a group of football fans can do better?

If anyone watching that documentary feels everything you hold dear is implicated...wow.

Not everyone is feeling the certain way you're feeling. Some of us are saying, (1) yeah, I never really knew that dimension of this story, and (2) maybe I should be more thoughtful about the contradictions that persist in this aspect of my life that means a lot to me and people I grew up with.

All historical narratives have a perspective—and are intended to shape future action. That doesn't make all history-telling propaganda.

No, propaganda is meant to support or disseminate a political ideology. Pointing out that college football was segregated and having people who lived through that segregation share their personal thoughts and feelings on what they went through doesn’t come close to propaganda.

If only this documentary was simply about the institution of football.

It’s almost like you didn’t watch.

Dude, it was 100% wrapped in a political ideology. You can’t ignore it no matter how hard you try given the current political climate.

This isn’t a knock on you, but perhaps you need bring yourself up to speed on what’s happening in this country politically.

I’m currently watching. It talks about the institution of college football, including the deaths of many players each year until rules were finally formed to protect players.

However, the height of the birth of college football absolutely coincided with a period of history where race was an undeniable factor. To not devote time discussing that, and both the good and bad that came from it, would be a disservice to the sport and whitewash (pun intended) it’s history.

Yep that free college education they receive for playing football (a kids game, most would play for free) must be killing them
