What Les said was “this is Death Valley. This is truly a place where opponents’ dreams come to die”; that is, what someone else has already said about Death valley is true.

People have called their home stadiums a place where dreams come to die forever. It's a generic phrase.

Les is the first coach to use it in that context at LSU. Get over it.

I think this is another case of people confusing Clemson and LSU with both being 'Death Valley' now (probably what Les did too).

For its part, Clemson’s stadium was dubbed “Death Valley” by Presbyterian College coach Lonnie McMillan in 1948 because it was where teams went to die. Clemson coach Frank Howard – who was the school’s head man from 1940-69 – reportedly adopted the moniker from McMillan.

The school also had its connection to the real Death Valley – the California desert – since the 1960s. The Orlando Sentinel reported that a Clemson alumnus was driving through the desert when he found a large flint rock and gave it to Howard..

It's how Clemson got the name Death Valley. Opposing coach said it was where his team was sent annually to die.

It's also a Willie Nelson song. It's a relatively common phrase, but Miles is the first official figure to use it with LSU.

According to this article Tiger stadium was referred to as Deaf Valley before taking the name Death Valley in 1959. I never knew that or maybe had forgotten that.

I don't think Les originated that.

Pretty sure he did, I've been around for 66 years, never heard it till Les said it!
