seems like you've given up on the season and are just reacting with emotion.

Look at the scenarios, there are 2 legit paths to Atlanta, and if you make it there you have a chance.

We need to win out.
At Florida, who is having a more disappointing year than us, whose starter is out, and whose backup is either out or will be gimpy with a bad hamstring.
Home vs Vandy, who is decent but shouldn't win in Tiger Stadium.
Home vs Oklahoma, who is having a nightmare year.

I thought our hopes were tied to the Arkansas-Mizzou game, I didn't know Arkansas-Texas would also do it. We basically need the pigs to rise up and take one. Arkansas-Texas is a rivalry, so you can't just ignore that one.

As someone pointed out earlier in this thread, I wouldn't mind any matchup with anyone, as long as they don't have a dual threat QB.

Looks like this season is shaping up to be a classic LSU fanbase overreaction to the Bama game
We lost that game and everyone wants Kelly fired, attendance will drop for the remaining home games, ... and we end up in Atlanta.
We then spend another offseason bragging about how great a fanbase we are.

Hey man, being a loyal LSU fan means you have to be ready to take the good with the bad

I think it’s really tough for us to imagine being in Atlanta without a win over Alabama. That shite is weird lol.

Yeah it is, it's part of the new college football world. A lot more like the NFL than it used to be.

It doesn't mean our fans have to be such insecure, unrealistic titty-babies about things. So many people are so anxious about stuff, that they quickly jump on taunts and trolls from other fans and accept them as truth.

Case in point: "Kelly can't win the big game". That's a non-issue. The issue was that he was at Notre Dame, a team with a glass ceiling on talent, a weak schedule, and national media hyping it because of history. He didn't win "the big game" against Alabama etc because Notre Dame was thoroughly out-classed at damn near every position when they played top teams.
The idea was that he was able to build a program that would take care of business and get those chances, and how would he fare at an LSU, where the talent isn't capped?

And about that- LSU doesn't have a talent cap, but Kelly came in at a very down point and is still building it back up. Probably 3/4 of our current team is what used to be our backup levels on defense. There simply wasn't much to build on when he took over. People scream "it's year 3", that doesn't mean shite. We just don't have the upper class depth (guys that aren't great, but won't make mistakes) to give our starters some rest yet. And portal transfers won't fix that, you need full classes of guys ready to step in.

I did not say this was happening. Only that is COULD. Like LSU COULD lose the remainder of their games. Missouri COULD beat Arkansas. But in reality all of what I originally posted COULD happen.

As bad as LSU has played in the last 2 games I can’t believe any fan is believing this team is worthy of a playoff spot. This football program is in trouble. Playoff fantasies should be the least of our concerns. We’re mediocre and predictable!

Definitely not.

Boise State has lost one game. They lost to Oregon (9-0) by 3. They throttled Wazzu (8-1), and handled Ga Southern (6-3) and UNLV (7-2).

If we somehow backdoored into the playoff by winning the SECCG, we'd be in that 5th spot.

No. LSU will likely be a top 4 conference champ if they win out

I see tRant has finally gotten over this past weekend.

This same thread was posted on Sunday and Monday showing all the very simple ways LSU could still play for the conf title and make the playoffs and had majority downvotes. This thread meanwhile has 10:1 upvotes

I said just wait to post this on Friday and it’d have 100 upvotes

if Boise St also wins out who is ranked way ahead of us it’s very plausible Boise St would be a top 4 conference champ instead of us and we’d have to play a first round playoff game.

ETA Playoff predictor gives Boise an 80% chance of getting a first round bye if they win out. If there’s a 3 loss conference champ from the P4 like us then their odds shoot even higher.

Correct, I think some people think it’s just the four P4 conference champions but it’s simply the 4 highest ranked conference champs.

5 highest ranked conference champs get in & 4 get a first round bye.

I think a 10-3 LSU would be a 12 seed

Yall are assuming Boise State wins out and there are are four conference champs above us. That isn’t likely

It’s not likely Boise wins out? That is definitely more likely than LSU winning out.

Who do you think on Boise’s schedule is taking them out or is it just purple and gold glasses the reason you’re saying that?

I said that it’s unlikely that they win out AND there are four conference champions ranked higher than us

It’s very likely Boise State finishes 12-1

Well I don’t know which P4 conference champ would be lower than us. Best chance would be hopping the Big 12 champ and BYU is undefeated ranked #6. We’d have to have a team like ISU win that conference since Deion and his media darling arse would get a bye if Colorado pulled off winning that conference

LSU wouldn't necessarily get a first round bye if they win the Conference. If Boise St finishes ranked higher than LSU there's legit chance the SEC Champ falls to 5th highest ranked Conference Champ and would not get the Bye at that point. The 4 Big conferences are not guaranteed the Byes, it is the 4 highest ranked Conference Champions.

Not if there is a 12-1 Boise state ahead of them.

I know it sucks to hear but a Boise State team who handles 4 teams with less than 3 losses and is 3 points away from beating Oregon looks a lot better than a 10-3 LSU who got drubbed at home at night by an, at best, above average Alabama team.

Anybody who has watched both Boise and LSU this year knows that Boise has looked way more complete than LSU this year and would likely drop them on a neutral field or on the Blue.

To clarify, I’m a Boise State grad so I’ve watched more Boise State than likely anyone on this board. However, if they were to ever go head to head I’m still rooting for the Tigers. I’m just not delusional. We have looked bad more often than we have looked good this year. We lost to USC, peaked against Arkansas and we looked slow and undisciplined against Bama. I’d love for us to back door into the playoff, but it’s obvious if we did that, with no real chance of redemption remaining other than a slight chance at a SECCG, we would sneak in as the last conference champ as long as Boise State wins out.
