Not going to lie, I wanted Herman when LSU was on the coaching search and wasn’t thrilled with O. I thought Herman has done a good job at Texas but O has won me over. If he continues to recruit and go get staff like Joe Brady I am going to be happy

Well put! 100% agree

I'm going to say it like this. If O went to Texas, he probably would have been fired after his third year. I mean when you think about it, he's done nothing really special but grab Brady. Herman could have gotten Burrow himself or developed a QB from raw talent like he did with Ehlinger. His offense is great, and is only missing a decent RB. Herman is a perfect fit for Texas and they will continue to get better under him. At worst Texas loses 3 regular season games, but I don't think they do.

Despite people losing their mind over one bad defensive performance vs a team that is loaded in the passing game, LSU has a shite ton of NFL caliber players on defense starting right now. We'd still get the Louisiana boys like we have now along with the Texas boys, and we would have had the transition to a high powered offense years ago. Despite what LSU fans think now, dropping Herman in LSU would have been WAY better than O seems to be now. O started with a loaded team defensively and offensively it had talent, but no QB or modern scheme. I know people aren't going to want to be realistic about this because they dislike Herman and worship O, but O has done nothing to better LSU that Herman wouldn't have done year one. Herman took a Texas team that had 3 straight losing seasons, and got them winning year one (with a true freshman QB), and to the conference championship and a win in a NY6 game vs UGA in year two. There's all likelihood that he'll do the same thing year three (this year), and if Ehlinger comes back, they keep that stud RB they have in the 2020 class, and all that defensive talent gains its experience, they are going to be projected to be in the playoffs.

TAMU is still a year away from any kind of decent conference success, so I can't judge Jimbo on a year and a couple games, but I never really cared for him to LSU anyway. I don't want to go back to the under center offense.

If he does this (and I think he will) he going to be at LSU for a very long time!

jimbo and herman are very involved with the play calling. coach O just sits back and watches his creation go to work.

totally different coaching style.

O just lets his coaches do their job.

It's looking like all 3 are very good coaches.

Of course. They've all succeeded at a very high level in their profession. You could argue vslue/cost, but something/someone is always worth what someone is willing to pay.

I’ll get blasted for asking this, perhaps deservedly so, but for discussion’s sake, has Joe Alleva been vindicated?

He did what he could, but honestly if we had gotten Herman, LSU would have probably been in the playoff talk last year. Like I said in the previous post, it took him ONE year to turn around a team that had 3 straight losing seasons. It took TWO years to reach his conference championship.

Thoughts you ask? How about all three schools have really good coaches that seem to fit well at their current schools and all three teams are going to be perennial very tough wins to beat any of them going forward!
