I heard CEO say this in the interview; I mean yeah, I agree, but attempting no passes beyond 20 yards could've been a factor as well, right?? Once Auburn knew we weren't going to do that, they were basically playing cover one and turning up the heat, good luck running with a suspect OL there. We have enough deep threats and Finley has the arm to hit them. Disagree?

I'm not going to defend the playcalling, because I want Linehan on the first train out of Louisiana. But its hard to have long developing plays when your offensive line couldn't stop a high school D line.

At least try a few times to make them respect it. Didn't even try to against SCar either

I'm not sure we trust either of the freshman to throw deep passes right now. But we had the same issues running the ball against Missouri and State as well with Brennan throwing deep balls, so I think it has a lot more to do with our run blocking and our backs lack of vision than whether or not we're throwing enough deep passes. Our line and backs have to play better, period.

I get what your saying, but the rest of this season is basically fall practice for 2021. There is nothing to lose

Should have prioritized Van Pran. There is no C on this team. The Harvard transfer is weak at the point of attack and gets blown off the ball like TBob used to get.

No... we need to commit to attacking defenses where they are the most venerable and setting them up for big plays.

Not committing to a plan (a.k.a. "we're going to run it _____ times") only to play into a defense's hands.

Wasn't Van Pran dead set on going out of state? I agree taking a Harvard center was a joke, they gave us Andrew Hatch too, nuff said

How about this...we run more than one running play!! Maybe we could work in a little misdirection for poops and giggles?!? Maybe Emery could use his 4.4 speed to go outside or, heaven forbid, we run some jet sweep motion with him in slot and TDP in backfield?!?

I watch Ole Miss' run game and I'm amazed at what they can do with less talent by making teams guess where the ball's going. (Yes I believe we have better talent than OM)!

Maybe he was but we used to keep the C spot deep with talent. To have a 4-star guy in state and a C headed to the draft, seemed like they could have prioritized him and sold him on staying in state.

Coach 0 also said along with our new amazing Defense that our Run game was the strength of the team. God help us.

TJ Finley stats on passing attempts >20 yards against South Carolina and Auburn:

2 completions / 7 attempts (29%), 0 TD, 1 INT

ETA: And that doesn’t include any sacks that would have been 20+ yard attempts if he had the time to throw it.

Deep passes are actually easier to do for young QBs with less risk - it is often a 1 or 2 read play, and if it gets picked, it’s like a punt.

That's what I warned the Finley needs to start over Brennan crowd after SC. SC never took away the first option all day. We just completed the short, first read option, and turned it into big plays. That wasn't going to work against a team not named SC.

Wish they would use a fullback in certain formations to help open up the running game.

We need to make a credible effort of at least trying to run the ball. The offense has been far too one dimensional and predictable. The 32 yards rushing against Scar wasn't the result of not being able to run. It was the result of not even trying. Yes, I miss Brady and Aranda. Saban's looking forward to this "All you can eat buffet".
