We have the best defense in the country and it's better than Bama.

We have more playmakers and more elite talent on defense than bama. Our defensive statistics do not appear as dominant because our offense is so inept. Losing field position and not being able to make a first down will wear down any defense.

Both defenses are both good. i don't know if one is better than the other.

I wonder if the added consideration of time-on-the-field would change the weight of our stats.

Red zone defense will have to be solid and hold them to FG's

We might have a couple better individual players on the defense, but as a defensive unit, I would give it to Bama...even though they haven't played anyone worth noting.

Our red zone defense can't stop shite, though.

The offense nor backups are completely blamable for the red zone defense. There is no excuse.

Bama has not played a top 10 team all year. Don't tell me Michigan is...LSU has faced top 2 top 10 teams and arguably the best offense in the conference with aTm. Would like to see our stats/win-loss v MS, TN, MO, MSU in lieu of FL, USCe, AU.

I dunno. Both are good and the offenses make it hard to compare. But I do know our defense has not lost us a game since about 2008.

Overall, I would give the edge to bama's defense over our defense this year.

Bama haven't given up any more points pass 10, we have given up 19.

Actually a pretty good idea- yards given up X a time of possesion factor, maybe three-and-outs, red-zone D, yards allowed in last 5min. w/ two-score lead factoring in- something like computing the QB efficiency numbers. Somebody get the statistician wonks working on the formula.

No no no.
1. Why do people say A&M is the best offense? Hello, Tennessee had to play North Carolina State to kickoff the season, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Alabama, and South Carolina. The Texas A&M offense has only faced 2 real tests.
2. I will not break down how fortunate Florida and LSU are to be ranked top 10. Both have one-dimensional offenses that have managed to get by with one loss each.
3. LSU faced two good defenses: Florida and South Carolina. South Carolina underperformed yet still was in the game until the end. Sure the argument can be made that the South Carolina and Florida defenses are much greater than anything Alabama has faced but the South Carolina defense just got major exposed Saturday. It was the second game where they yielded horrifying yardage. This time they narrowly escaped defeat.

I would say our defensive line is the best in college football in a while. When was the last time another team had such a disruptive DL?
