This is the way I prepare for football season. I pick apart the team, micromanage it down to a 6-6 team so I don't get disappointed if they lose a couple of games.

There's gotta be a better way!!!
I understand. Anyone who has been a TIGER fan for a long time is so afraid that we will go back to the bad times. I really don't think we will. We will have bumps in the road, but 9, 10 and 11 win seasons should be the norm.

part of the reason for the bad season last year IMO was the tiny class with many defections that miles signed in his first recruiting season. you can't blame him though, the guy only had around a month

Wrong. We had a small class b/c we only had like 15 schollies to give out.

We had a shitty season b/c of the (im)perfect storm of a shitty defense + freshmen at QB.

lolz

i really don't care what the reasoning was behind the small class. either way saban left LSU in a bad situation as far as recruiting is concerned

Sorry, you implied a poor season. You also asked why fans were optimistic. The combination of our team playing better and UGA and Bama with new QB's give me optimism that we can go there and steal wins! Maybe I'm just an optimistic person?

No he didn't. If we signed a QB b/w RP and Lee and didn't have the co-Tards at DC, we would've had a different result. You CANNOT blame 8-5 on Saban.

What has Jefferson shown you in his minimal experience to make you believe that he is ready to break out this season?

He has shown skill sets and leadership qualities that suggest he could become a very solid SEC qb. If the O-line stays healthy and JJ continues to protect the ball our offense should be able to sustain drives and put points on the board. I don't give a rat's behind if he has a 'breakout' season...I only care that he spearheads an offense that piles up first down stats and makes plays in the red zone. Geaux.

if you really think having a total of 9 players that didn't transfer or get kicked off the team from that class, which would have been the true senior/redshirt junior class last season, didn't have a negative impact.....well, you deserve another lolz.

obviously the horrible defensive coaching and the QB situation were the main factors though

Why?

First of all, I have been optimistic before EVERY season of LSU Football since I became a fan. Sometimes it was misplaced but come on,

After 8 months of no college football, I am always pumped about the new season.

What I saw in the previous season and the bowl game made me feel like this team needed a leader on offense and looks to have found one.

Our QB for the majority of last season showed little to no leadership. Not to mention his dismal performance.

The new guy brought a spark and the team seemed to rally around him in the bowl game. We have seen a similar situation in the past -- Josh Booty/Rohan Davey/Georgia Tech/Peach Bowl....

The parallels are eerie and quite frankly this guy said it best, IMHO.

quote:

He checked off and hit wide open receivers instead of forcing throws or throwing it away because one guy wasn't open. Thats enough for a true freshman to recieve some optimism

Again, why not be optimistic. This is LSU and fall is right around the corner.

Cheer up man!!

I've never seen him play.....but I think Shepard would be better suited as a receiver type player....not at QB

and i think we only had 13-15 spots due to over recruiting the previous years
