So how would you compare him to Snead (int problem), Mallet(holds onto ball prone to sacks), Tebow(sacked alot this year, inaccurate on short and intermediate routes, poor mechanics), McElroy(his showing in the championship game was

WOw, some think that JJ isnt an SEC qb and others think he is gonna be a great sec qb.
The vast diff of opinions on here amazes me at times.
FWIW I dont think JJ is or will be a great qb.

Why is that funny. He completes a high percentage of his passess, doesn't throw many picks, has no line or running game to help him and is hampered by an inept offensive coaching staff.
What has he done that makes you think that, with proper coaching, he would not be one of the top QBs in the conference?

No matter how talented he is, he will not become "great" until he learns to go through his progressions. Having a high QB rating because you were successful on short to intermediate passes is one thing, but consistently not seeing wide open receivers on long routes will keep him as an average QB in this league.

Jefferson is a good QB, he is steady and a game manager. He protect's the ball well and can suffer from mental lapses, internal clock issue. I will take Jefferson's production with as a stout defense (one better than last years) a running game, and receivers who do not drop the ball. His numbers should trend upwards next season but I doubt he becomes All-SEC QB as that is not the type of offense LSU runs. Jefferson will improve because he is a talented player who is gifted.
Next season you could potentially see
60% completion percentage
15-20 touchdowns
7-10 INT
and about 2100 yards
(yes I know that would be more INT/lower completion percentage than this year. I think he takes a few more chances next season, improves LSU passing game at cost of some of his stats)
He is the best QB on the roster I believe as Garrett needs time to develop and could potentially be good in future.

Has been hashed and rehashed. Long windup (poor mechanics that are hard to change), no pocket presence or the kind of instincts that is more natural than coached, no apparent ability to go through any kind of progression, etc.
There are some problems he has that might be coaching related, such as never throwing to the middle of the field (wasted a great TE this year), backpedaling into sacks, holding the ball until sacked, and so on, but whether the coaches are working on this and he isn't getting it, or the coaches are oblivious and not even trying to improve on this is something no one outside the team can be certain of.

emry....I agree 1000%, Jefferson is a great guy and I am glad to have him as an LSU Tiger, but as our starting QB, I don't think so. Poor kid has not progressed at all this year, in fact I think he might have dropped down a notch from the end of last year and start of this year. A former LSU player told me that he was on the sideline for one of the games this year and was amazed at what he saw. When the defense was on the field, Jefferson would sit alone on the bench. Not one coach would sit with him and talk to him and show him pictures or coach him...nothing.....you see this with other teams (coaches talking to the QB while he is sitting on the bench waiting to get back in) but not at LSU. Jefferson needs coaching to develop and this is just not happening.

Green Bay must be the dumbest team in the NFL.

Is that the same Matt Flynn that led the most prolific offense in Tiger history? The same guy that is playing in the N.F.L.? You are going to try and tell us that he is not as good as the guy that qb'd the 112th ranked offense in college football this year?
Gee, I would realy like to tell you how idiotic you are but based on your post, you just really wouldn't understand. You may be the most unintelligent poster in the HISTORY of TD. Wow...

Double Down...I agree with your post.
Flynn starts his first game against Miami in the Chik-fil-A and was masterful.

He had no help in most games. In the ole miss game we had under 50 yards rushing. If you expected to JJ to throw for 250-300 yards a game with no rushing attack, then Yeah you're gonna be disappointed. I really don't understand how so many people can forget that Matt Flynn was a very average qb. The game we lost to Kentucky, he threw for 135 yards and less than 50% completion. Matt Flynn had one of , if not the , most dominate rushing attacks in recent LSU history. JJ did get better reading defenses and throwing the deep ball. He also moved much better in the pocket in the bowl game. Also, Crowton didn't put JJ in many situations to be productive. Anybody with a minimal football iq could see that JJ had problems keeping his eyes down field when the pocket broke down(which most young qb do). Why not roll JJ out some? Also, by the third game, my little boy could see that JJ couldn't and shouldn't be running the option. Crowton was still running that shite in the bowl game. bottom line is that JJ is gettin better and anybody that can't see it is, just doesn't want to.
