Was Tony Robichaux considered for the head gig when Smoke was fired?

I've heard conflicting reports.

As a courtesy, I think Skip talked to Rick Jones. I am not sure about Robichaux.

No. He was a serious candidate at Ole Miss when they hired Bianco and Ive heard from several credible sources that he was even offered the position but declined.

If robichaux was at lsu they would be absolutely sick. He takes mediocre talent and elevates it. Not saying maineri isn't good but if robichaux was at lsu they would have more than one nc since 09.

No they wouldn't. We would pitch great and suck at hitting, just like the Cajuns most years. Winning Sun Belt titles ain't the same as SEC titles. Ole Miss whipped Robe's best squad ever. The 2000 team snuck up on people, but the 2014 was his best.

I'm not ready to say they would have more NC's. He is an outstanding field manager and pitching coach. He is also a tremendous motivator and fund raiser who has built a respected program from scratch. He is pretty hands off with the hitters and puts a ton of responsibility on his assistants. Ive always wondered how he'd do at a big school but I also know that he loves being the under dog and his best teams are the ones that play with the chip on the shoulder attitude that he loves in his players. Not sure how he would be with the top prospect showcase type kids. Everyone has seen the water hose quote. He is a hard guy to play for and its impossible to play for him if the perception is that a kid is soft

He's also is not working with lsu talent. If you really believe Maineri is a better coach than robichaux you are retarded. Maineri has the best pitching coach in college and an excellent hitting coach around him. i won't claim robichaux to be a great hitting instructor but he's an awesome pitching coach. You think maineri would get the same results robichaux does at ull?

Leave that chip on your shoulder at home. America will be watching on TV this weekend and they don't want to see you getting mad at giving up homers and throwing at hitters. Leave that to the idiots in the pro game.

How many CWS has Notre Dame been to without CPM? How many with him? Here's a hint, more than Robichaux in Lafayette. CPM is doing something right, at every stop he's ever been.

i could give two shits about UL- L and its teams or fans, however i knew Tony and his wife for many years when he was at McNeese and he is a hell of a guy. great family so i cant say anything negative about them

Impossible to say. PM is no slouch by any measure. I know some fans question his on field decisions. I think Robe is probably better in this regard but there is a lot more to it. Robe has to wear a ton of different hats as there or not very many people in the baseball program, whereas PM has to manage a lot more people within his organization.

CPM runs a great program. He hires solid assistants, minus his promotion of our previous under qualified hitting coach. He brings in great talent, just like he did at Notre Dame. I question some of his game decisions, but the overall results have been pretty, darn good.

At lsu I think he would be a great coach. I'm glad he's at ull but I don't think the university appreciates what he's done with mediocre pay and facilities. I'd hate to see him leave but he deserves better than what they've showed him but he swears he loves it there and I doubt he'd ever leave at this point.

What are you talking about? Mason Katz and Raph Rhymes drug their nuts over ULL in 2013. Cody Glenn shut down your "nations best hitters" for crying out loud.
