The offense may flow better against scrub teams like Kennesaw State where all the players are sub 6'5, but Martin/Mickey would definitely make this team better overall once we play decent teams with size.

What you, and many others, forget is that Ben Simmons defies traditional basketball rules. We have some possessions where we may force a play or miss a shot, but we will never be stagnant. If our offense isn't working, we will just ISO Ben. People get tired of just seeing a guy take someone off the dribble, but it's the simplest and most effective offense. The best player in basketball 1 on 1. If you don't double him, we win that battle...if you do double he will find an open man for a shot.

In short, our offense will never be stagnant and dull.

Getting them back would have meant an obscene amount of talent on the floor for us and depth wise. As far as chemistry goes though, its anyone's guess. Would they have let Simmons come in and captain the ship??? I doubt it...

I would actually love to still have Mickey. I really enjoyed watching both Martin and Mickey play but Mickey's shot blocking presence would be great for this team. He can also get up and down the court. But who cares now because we look badass and we are still 2 good players down!

This is dumb. Martin and Mickey were great at running the floor and this is what this team does well.

yea esp Martin. He was best in transition

I think we are all aware of how good Ben Simmons is. I'm not talking about offense, either. We were the best rebounding team in the conference last year with Martin and Mickey, and they were #1 and #3 individually in the conference. Mickey also was #1 in blocks by a wide margin, averaging nearly four a game. To insinuate that we are better without these two guys is absurd.

Simmons is martin 2.0 but nobody in this team could replace Mickey's low post threat, rebounding and shot blocking. Victor will have some of his skills but if Mickey returned our lineup would be scary
TQ
Hornsby
Simmons
Victor
Mickey.

You still have Blakeney, Sampson, Gray, Patterson, ER3 and epps on the bench. That's a top 5 team

I agree but come conference play their talents would be a nice bonus.

Some people just want to act like things are better than before. This team is very talented, but small in the post. They have no real block shot/rebounding threat and it will hurt them big time once real games start.

I love LSU and think this team will be special, but people are really buying into the hype way too much, especially given the teams LSU has played to date this season.

Having either of those guys back would have been huge in the long term for this team this season. Anyone saying otherwise is deluding themselves.

Martin and Simmons together would have been awesome. Would obviously take Mickey but his role and minutes would have to be significantly reduced to get the most out of the rest of the roster.

Well we'll have Victor in a few weeks. Our big men have played better than expected so far too. Robinson looks like a new player as far as quickness is concerned

So you're buying into the hype while criticizing people for doing the same?

Makes sense

this is idiocy. the Tigers would be penciled in as title contenders had Mickey/Martin stayed.

Simmons at point-forward 3. Martin at 4. Mickey at 5.

depth for days. this team will be good. but let's not be delusional.

all of this

I think we can definitively answer "No" at this point. It would have been fun to watch a team ten men deep with 5 NBA draft picks struggle to win a game in the tournament though.

yea, but M&M were higher priorities, plus damian really wanted to go to vandy's engineering program.
