2000 - LSU was 67th in NCAA in penalties (7.36 per game)
2001 - 34th (6.42)

2002 - 66th (7.08)

2003 - 82nd (7.29)

2004 - 40th (6.00)

As of today, Alabama is second to Navy in the NCAA in penalties, having committed... er... been called for... only 27 on the year.

I smell a rat.

I try to not be into conspiracies and such, but something is up whenever an SEC team goes 10 games without a holding penalty or whatever it was a couple years ago

During Saban's LSU tenure he was the most penalized SEC team.

Went to Miami, then to T-Town, and amazingly, became the least penalized SEC team.

That's really low

Inevitably you're going to have some holding and PI calls

Seems like they've been catching some breaks. Even if you avoid stupid penalties like false starts and off sides you're going to have some other penalties like incidental facemasks, holding, PI. Hard to imagine any team could have 27 through 8 games.

Nah. This isn't uncommon for Bama. At all.

None of this should shock anyone who pays attention.

Andre Smith held more than any offensive lineman I've ever seen and never got called

They're going to have to have at least a couple of holding calls against this D line.

If they go the whole game without a holding call I'll be shocked. Our D line is too good

part of it is "alabama"

part of it is nick saban.

the majority of it is just bad officiating. play in the best conference in the nation and have the worst officiating across every game, every week.

SEC Rankings last 5 years for least penalties.

Bama has been 1st, 1st, 3rd, 1st, 1st.

A journalist needs to do an in depth story to expose this to the rest of the nation.

I want to know what Saban changed in his coaching style to go from one of the most penalized teams in the SEC between 2000 - 2004 to the least penalized team in the SEC the minute he's at Bama.

No its a Bama thing. It's crazy a run oriented team gets no holding calls when it's common knowledge u can call holding on every play

No. They won't.

Don't be shocked. The only calls against Bama will be the obvious ones like offsides, false start, etc.

This thread pisses me off. It's also proof we are playing the refs as well as bama and while we should win, we won't cause our guys will be getting held but it won't be called.

Where does this rank us in the SEC during that time?

Just think back to the West Virginia game this year, which was with SEC officials. Many thought at the time the lack of holding calls in obvious situations during that game was them warming us up for the Bama game.
