Think about it - last year we had Flynn. Interceptions were rare.

I don't know about that one.

during Jamarcus' freshmen year???

Yes. Lee has been given AMPLE time to pull himself out of the tailspin he's been in. While it's been tough to watch, I actually appreciate that about Miles and Crowton. Russell, on the other hand, was handled EXTREMELY poorly by Saban and Jimbo. Russell was never given a full game that year to make or break it on his own, and it made 2005 that much harder. Lee has been given loads of time (plus a much better running game) and has yet to make any progress. JR never got that same chance to "play through it."

If the argument this year is that "Lee will be better next season because of all the playing time this year" I sure hope those of you making that agument today were saying it back in 2004. I was, and it fell largely on deaf ears.

i for one am not saying he will better because of pt this year...i am saying that he will mature because of the pt and its only a matter of time before he plays a complete game like the 2nd half at the barn

I hear this a lot...and there is reason to expect this. HOWEVER, it is NOT written in stone. As an LSU fan, I hope that things work out this way. That like most QB's, Lee improves with age and experience and his decision making catches up with his live arm. Yet, there is no guarantee of that. We could every well be seeing the QB that Lee will always be. Because of that, I won;t assume we'll see anything other than what we have so far...and hope for the best.

But I was answering the OP question. Lee has been given TONS of time to pull out, and he hasn't. Russell was never given that kind of time and there were TONS of bitching about him. Hell...some STILL bitch about him, even with what we are watching this year.

JR wasn't the man as a redshirt freshman. When he was having a bad game he was pulled. In addition the defense was more consistent and the offense could tackle when we had a interception.

Are people really going to try to make this argument?

You couldnt throw a ball 15 yds if you tried, much less with the pressure this kid has!

I'm hearing this argument a lot lately, and it's completely irrelevent to the discussion. you're right, pretty much every single one of us fans are in no way as athletically gifted as Jarrett Lee on his worst day. But that doesn't make me blind to some of the things that have happened this season.

I sincerely hope he improves and I've got to believe that he will.

I agree that the fact that none of us could throw it 15 yards is irrvelevant, we are not the ones going to college for free because of how we throw. JL lacks the fundementals that JR even as a freshman did decently. JL dosent set his feet, he telegraphs his passes, and at times looks completely incapable of reading the defense. young JR>> young JL
