Did I catch that right? O said run one defense of coverage, and stick to it. If they don’t understand a coverage throw it out the window. I can’t imagine this going well against Florida

It pretty much is a communication gap. Different language. It's also may have to do with kids not studying tapes and their playbooks. They have to have some type of accountability as well.

It will go horribly against any good offense we play this year. But it will at least result in the players knowing where to be and tackling.

He said we have to know our assignments, even if that meant running one defense the whole game. He was just making the point that we might have to dial back the complexity. He did not say that we were, in fact, only going to run one coverage for the entire game. I don’t know how anyone could possibly take that literally.
