Dick has always been obnoxious and somewhat annoying, but I always thought he was a good promoter of college basketball being probably its best known media personality. But this whole thing has absolutely brought him into the piece of shite category. You are watching cut-throat and dirty recruiting happening in real time with Vitale being a WILLING participant almost assuredly at the directions of (or at least on behalf of) a rival coach.


He has interjected himself into the game as opposed to just being a "lovable" sideshow act in the media. LSU very well may receive a NOA (perhaps even soon), but this piece of shite publicized COMPLETELY false and unverified information FULLY aware of the timing in which he did it. Hell, I wouldn't even be shocked if he contacted Cisse through backchannels to recruit for another school (or at least keep him away from LSU).

Maybe savvy coaches use the media all the time to recruit players. But this was just an absurdly blatant and intentional smear job with a predetermined purpose. Not that it may matter much, but if I'm Wade and LSU I tell ESPN that Dick Vitale is not allowed to show his worthless arse around LSU ever again. That LSU would rather play a game broadcast on the "home video network" than they would a game on ESPN that Vitale was working. He can still come to BR to hang out with Dale Brown, eat noodles, and talk about how great a coach Johnny Jones would have been if LSU had only given him 5 more years. But as far as him setting foot on LSU's campus, he can frick off.

If you want to have an opinion, fine. But the moment you inject yourself into the situation is a whole different ball game.
